Why do people have to complicate things? Life is hard enough as it is without taking the simple and turning it into a major project. Affiliate marketing is NOT rocket science. In fact, it is so easy, I don't understand why anybody has trouble making a living as an affiliate marketer. However, if you're one of those people who is struggling to make ends meet, this article is going to share three simple things you should do to almost guarantee your success as an affiliate marketer. Keep reading to find out what they are. At the top of the list, and quite honestly, the most important thing...is demand. I hear so many people talking about trying to find some unknown niche so that they can make their killing. Let me tell you something. If the niche is unknown, it's probably because there aren't that many people who give a rat's behind about it. You're only going to make so much money if the demand just isn't there. So go after something big. Don't be afraid to lock horns with the big boys. It'll build character. Next, you want to make sure that you go above and beyond the competition. See, many marketers take the easy and lazy way out. They'll find a product, generate their affiliate link, buy some PPC traffic and hope for a few sales...doing absolutely no preselling in the process. None of these people stand out. So why not go the extra mile? What's the extra mile? For starters, and right off the top of my head, why not do a comprehensive review of the product? I'm talking about a real HONEST review...not one of those made up things you see all the time. This alone will put you ahead of most of the competition. Point is...stand out! Finally, there are many ways to promote a product online...use them! Most affiliates will take the easy way out and just use one method. This leaves a whole lot of money on the table because they're not reaching a large segment of the population. Google only has 50% of the world market in the search engine wars. What happens to the other 50% of the people if all you're using is Google? You're not reaching them...that's what happens. There is life outside PPC, such as article marketing, solo ezine ads and so on. Use them! You'll be amazed at how much extra money you make. Bottom line is this. If you simply just do more than everybody else is doing, you'll succeed. The human race in general is lazy. People want to do as little work as possible. Therefore, all you have to do is more than the other guy and you'll succeed. Yeah, it's THAT simple. To YOUR Success, Steven Wagenheim Tired of being an affiliate failure? Want to turn yourself into an affiliate assassin like I am? Want to land in the top 20 of every affiliate promotion you tackle just like I do? Truth...what happened to it? If you're an article writer, this article is going to touch on a lot of raw nerves. That's going to make a lot of people VERY uncomfortable. Well, so be it. It's time for the BS to stop and for article writers to start being responsible again. If you don't know what I'm talking about, keep reading. I promise you're going to get an earful. Let's start off with the painfully obvious. Nobody is going to read your article if it's boring. I understand that. I, better than anyone, understand the importance of putting together an article that isn't going to put my reader to sleep. But that DOESN'T mean that I lie or even stretch the truth. Oh come on, you know what I'm talking about. You're writing an article on some treatment for some ailment and you make up this story that you had the ailment yourself and miraculously, the treatment cured it. You do this in an attempt to sell some product. This is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. It doesn't matter if the product is the greatest product in the whole world. It doesn't even matter if the sales page has 100 testimonials, all of which can be verified. YOUR experience with the product, if any at all, MUST be true. You cannot make up things just to write a more interesting article. I'll take it one step further. Let's say you're writing an article about France and how beautiful the country is and you talk about your excursions through Paris...even though you've never been out of New Jersey. What's that you say? It's only a little white lie? I mean after all, it's not hurting anybody if I say I went to Paris even though I didn't...right? Wrong again. It's hurting the profession. If everybody just made stuff up, we wouldn't know what to believe anymore. Plus, if you can justify lying about your trip to Paris, where does it end? Do you then start lying about your enjoyable flight on some new airline? What if, God forbid, a plane from that airline goes down and somebody hopped on it because of YOUR article? Folks, it's time for article writers to start writing the truth. The only time I EVER talk about my personal experience in an article is when it's true. How's that for a novel concept? Personally, I'm sick and tired of all the trash I've been reading online (blatant and obvious falsehoods) and I'm calling for it to stop. Is anybody listening? For the sake of this profession...I hope so. To YOUR Success, Steven Wagenheim Want to write articles that get people's attention and can earn you up to $200 per article written? As a copywriter, you have an obligation, not only to your client, but to the truth. I know this topic is going to strike a lot of raw nerves with a lot of people. So be it. Testimonials are getting way out of hand. The fake ones are so blatantly obvious that you have to wonder how some of these people get away with it. Well, the truth is, they don't. The FTC does eventually catch up to them. So, if you don't know what the proper use of testimonials is, you might want to read this article. Okay, let's get the obvious out of the way. A testimonial has to be real, not made up. But if you think that's all you have to do in regard to crafting a testimonial for your sales page, you are sadly mistaken. Aside from being real, it also has to be easily verifiable. That means, you have to have some kind of hard copy or digital copy from the person giving the testimonial that you can show to the authorities should they come snooping around. If it's one you received in the mail, you better have an address and real name of the person so that they can check. If it's through email, you better have an email address that can also be verified. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. See, all of that is STILL not good enough if the testimonial was given in response to any kind of an incentive, such as, "I'll give you a free copy for a testimonial" then that is NOT a valid testimonial. Testimonials must be given freely for no gain of any sort. Too many Internet marketers think it is okay to "hunt" for testimonials. It is not. Saying to somebody, "I hope you like the product. If you have any comments you'd like to make after using it, they'd be appreciated" is fine. But asking for a testimonial is NOT fine. There is a fine line here and only you as a copywriter know if you're crossing it or not. There is no denying that testimonials for a product will help improve your sales. It's the reason why they are placed on sales pages. But they MUST be gotten in an ethical manner and MUST be real. Anything less than that and you're looking for trouble. Take this warning in the spirit in which it is intended. To YOUR Success, Steven Wagenheim Want to write copy just like the pros? The war has started and it's going to be an ugly one. I can see the lawsuits a mile away. I am writing this, knowing full well that it may not even get published at any article directories for fear of repercussions from Google, to warn you that your site, your business, is at SERIOUS risk. I am talking about the new Sidewiki toolbar which has already been responsible for vicious attacks on several sites. If you're not familiar with Sidewiki, it is essentially a simple application. The web surfer downloads the Sidewiki toolbar. After they do, any site they visit, the toolbar will appear on the left hand side of the site itself in the same window. On this toolbar, visitors to your site can post their comments. Then, anybody who goes to visit your site can see those comments posted. On the surface, this would seem innocuous enough. But in the wrong hands, this could become a deadly tool, as I have already witnessed. There is nothing from stopping a competitor from viewing your site and leaving a comment such as, "This person is a scam artist. Do not buy anything from them." Then, any visitor who has the toolbar installed will see that comment. This can potentially destroy a person's business if a mass attack is coordinated. The problem I have with this whole application is that it is essentially giving Google the right to display adds and opinions DIRECTLY on your site WITHOUT your approval. It's one thing if somebody goes to a forum or discussion group and makes a comment about your site. It's another one for somebody to come to YOUR site and see such comments. This should NOT be tolerated. I am thereby asking every Internet marketer and home business owner to write to Google and tell them that you are against Sidewiki. Contact some of the major online companies, such as Amazon and explain to them what kind of damage this toolbar can do to THEIR business. With enough muscle behind us, we can put a stop to Sidewiki. Please do not take this lightly. This is as serious as it gets. It is no different from somebody coming to your restaurant and spraying graffiti all over your walls telling people not to eat there. In my signature, you will find a link where you can contact Google about Sidewiki. To YOUR Success, Steven Wagenheim Don't want to see your business destroyed? Go to http://www.google.com/support/toolbar/bin/request.py?contact_type=feedback and tell Google what you think of Sidewiki and that you want it taken down.

Things have finally gotten way out of hand on the Internet. I've seen some home businesses that, quite honestly, I don't even know how they got off the ground and weren't shut down by the feds. This insanity has got to stop before every home business owner is painted with the same broad stroke of being a scammer. This article is going to explain in no uncertain terms. If you can't handle the truth, I suggest you don't read this. Let me start off by saying that a legit home business sells a product or service. Now, if you don't know exactly what that means, let me spell it out to you, because a lot of people seem to have a major problem with this concept. A product is something that the consumer consumes. It can be a book, DVD, video, or even a digital download. But it has to be something that they can either hold in their hands or store on the computers in some form. That is a valid product. What about a service? A service is where you do something for another person. It could be copywriting, video duplication, an autoresponder service, and so on. Okay, simple enough? It should be. So, what kind of home business doesn't fall into these two categories? Well, one that comes to mind is where you get somebody to sign up to some ambiguous program that promises to pay so much money for every person they get to sign up under them. Please tell me what the product or service is? For the life of me, I can't figure it out. I have tried every way imaginable to justify this business model, but I just can't. And neither can the FTC. If you want to see tons of case histories of these "programs" getting shut down, just do a simple search online. If you think YOUR business is immune, think again. It's not. Eventually, they WILL catch up to you just like they have with every other scheme out there. It's not hard to understand. If you're not offering a product or a service, you are NOT a legitimate business. The insanity has to stop...NOW! You know what the problem with affiliate marketing is? It's too impersonal. Sometimes I feel like I'm being greeted by a robot at the corner of PC and Mac. What happened to customer service? What happened to real live human beings behind those sales pages? Do you ever get a response from an email sent to one of these people? Well, if you're into affiliate marketing and want to increase your sales, the personal touch is the way to do it. The best way is with the recommendation. This article explains. Now, when I say recommendation, I don't just mean to say to somebody, "Hey Joe, this product is really great. You should get it." That's not a recommendation. That's a joke. No, a real recommendation is a lot more rich in content than just "hey, buy this product." It is almost like being a sales person in a very ritzy store and giving a customer the 50 cent tour. By the time they're done, they feel like they've been treated like a king. That's how you have to make your prospects feel...like you REALLY care about them. How do you do this? For starters, tell them about what the product does in general. You want them to get a pretty decent idea of what it is they're going to be getting. Then, if they're still interested, tell them what you like about the product. Tell them what features you find the most attractive. But don't stop there. Tell them what you don't like and wish they had made differently. Trust me, your prospect will be shocked that you've said anything bad about a product that you're trying to sell to them. Finally, tell them how you feel the product will help them, whether it's in saving them time, money or whatever. Let them know who you think will best benefit by this product, that it might not be for everybody. And last but not least, ask them if they have any questions about anything you've shared with them. If you've covered the bases that I've gone over in this article, they should have few, if any questions at all. Selling affiliate products is not hard if you use the personal approach. This can easily be accomplished by a genuine product review on your site or blog. Sure, it will require some outlay of cash to buy the product, unless you can get the merchant to give you a review copy, but in the end, it WILL increase sales simply because you've gone above and beyond what most people do. Try it sometime. You might be surprised by the results. To YOUR Success, Steven Wagenheim Tired of being an affiliate failure? Want to turn yourself into an affiliate assassin like I am? Want to land in the top 20 of every affiliate promotion you tackle just like I do? Is your home business built on a house of cards? Not sure? Then you might want to read this article. See, a lot of people really have no idea what's involved with running a successful home business. One of the most important things is having a product and/or service that people actually want. I'm going to go into a bit of detail here. Hopefully, you will get the picture. Probably the best way to explain this is with my own personal blunder. Yes, I have screwed up in the past and have learned from those mistakes. I ventured into a niche once where I was determined to conquer it by offering my own unique product. There was nothing else like it on the Internet and I was sure it was going to be a big success. Well, I failed to do my homework and actually find out if people cared about anything like it. As a result, while I made a few sales, for the most part...it was a failure. Why? I didn't do my research. Now, imagine you are building a whole business on this "guess." See, for me, this was just a side project so I really didn't have anything to lose. If it busted, so what? I still had my main business that was doing well. But what if you decide to put all your eggs in this one basket? Then what? You've put in all that time into something and have nothing to show for it when some simple research could have saved you a ton of trouble. Don't know how to research? It's simple. Go to the Google keyword tool and see how many people are searching for this particular product or service. Go to the search engines and see if something similar is already being sold. If it is, there is a good chance that you'll be able to make sales as well. Go to forums and actually ASK people what it is that they want. There are forums for just about every niche in existence. Find the top one and go there. It won't take you much of your time. Without proper research, you're starting and running a business in the dark. That, my friend, is a sure recipe for disaster. Don't build your home business on a house of cards that could come tumbling down at any second. To YOUR Success, Steven Wagenheim Looking for a solid 4 step plan to building your own business...FREE? Want to end up in IM purgatory? Then DON'T read this article. I can't even begin to tell you how many people have ended up giving up on Internet marketing because they've committed one blunder after another. It's almost like a disease with no cure. Well, actually there is a cure...it's called common sense. Unfortunately, that seems to be in short supply these days. Anyway, if you don't want to blunder your way to IM purgatory, you might want to read this. I'm going to touch on just a few things that could really put the kibosh on your IM future. For starters, do you even have a plan? I mean I can't believe how many people I talk to and when I ask them if they have a plan they give me something like, "Oh, I don't know. I'm just gonna do a little of this and that and see what sticks." Huh? Are you serious? That's how you go about being an Internet marketer? You throw some stuff at the wall and see what sticks? It's not exactly a recipe for success in my book. But, if you want to rely on luck for your IM success, hey, go for it. But if you're smart, you'll make a plan. Then of course there is the guy who thinks that he doesn't need to know anything to be successful. And actually, to a degree, this is true. If you want, you can just go out and hire people to market for you. Naturally, this is going to require quite a bit of capital to pull off. You don't have a problem with coughing up a few grand do you? Of course, if you DON'T know what you're doing then you have no way of knowing if these people you've hired are robbing you blind. So some business sense would be nice. Hey, it's just a thought. Finally, and this is something NOBODY thinks about until it's too late...your computer, like it or not, is NOT indestructible. One day you're going to wake up, turn it on, and find that you'd have better luck trying to turn on your ex wife. Oh and then what happens when your hard drive crashes and you realize...doh! I have no backup! Man, aren't you going to look silly with egg all over your face when you try to explain to your ex wife that your business just went down the tubes and her alimony check is going to be a little late. Okay, I've tried to make light of a very serious subject. The truth is, these, and many other items, can turn your business into mush overnight. If you think I'm kidding, I'm not. So please do yourself a favor. Make a plan, get some solid knowledge under your belt and PLEASE backup your data. You've been warned. To YOUR Success, Steven Wagenheim Want to know what the 7 Deadly Sins of Internet Marketing are? Internet marketers are getting more and more creative everyday. We all know by now that video is big and a great way to get your message out to people. But this new craze has taken video to a whole new level. If put in the proper hands, it can be hugely successful. If you're wondering what I'm talking about, keep reading. I'll fill you in on all the details. I learned about this from a member over at the Warrior Forum (where else?) The craze I'm talking about is animation. Yes, there are tools out there that will allow you, and quite simply I might add, to make animated videos for your product's message. One of these is Xtranormal dot com, which is just pure genius. I won't go into all the specifics. You can go there and check them out. But I will give you a basic run down. Essentially, the way it works is like this. You go to the site and you get walked through a bit of a wizard. You are first given options for what characters you want to use and how many. The free options allow up to two characters. There are options for premium members. After you have chosen your characters, you type out your script for each character. You can also use stage directions as well which control camera angles and how the characters move in the video itself. The voices are computer generated and a little artificial sounding, but that only adds to the charm of these videos. After you've finished your input, the video is rendered and you can then upload it to YouTube. If you go to YouTube and look up Xtranormal, you will see tons of these already. They are VERY popular. Combine these with a solid message and you can actually make some money from your business. But...and this is a big but...know something about video production and scripting before you venture off into this area. If you don't know the basics of how to create a video, you're going to end up with a mess on your hands. As I said, in the hands of the right person, this can be a great tool. To YOUR Success, Steven Wagenheim Want to get all the tips you'll need to create great videos, even Xtranormal ones? Visit my review of Kevin Riley's Video Creation Product at at http://stevenwagenheim.blogspot.com/2008/06/kevin-rileys-recipe-for-success.html and get yourself a real video creation education that you can take to any media.

I remember how excited I was when I first started my home business over six years ago. I wanted to tell everybody what I was doing and what I was planning to do. But a little voice inside my head told me to keep my trap shut and keep my ideas to myself. Turns out I was right. This article is going to explain why it's best to keep your plans to yourself and IF you are going to outsource work, get a non disclosure agreement signed. The Internet business community is a competitive place. People are constantly on the lookout for new markets to tap into and conquer. This is hard enough as it is, so the last thing you want to do is make it easy for somebody to tap into your corner of the world. Now naturally, once you've put yourself out there, as I have done, people are going to know what you've already done. But the key thing is this...it's done. You got the first leg up on them...not the other way around. Imagine you're sitting in a bar with your best friend talking about your plans to conquer this brand new niche online. Now, your best friend may not have any desire to cut into your territory, but what happens if in passing, he tells one of his friends what you're up to? This guy may not be so kind. He just may decide to get the jump on you. And then what? You might even find that the domain you wanted to get is taken, especially if you gave the name to your friend. Most people don't think it's going to happen. It does. As a matter of fact, there are some domain registration sites that IF you look up a domain name to see if it's available and DON'T get it right away...if you go back the next day, you'll find that it is no longer available. Coincidence? I think not. So if you have your heart set on getting a domain, get it THEN. Don't wait! You may not get another chance. Finally, if you see that you are in need of outsourcing some of the work to get your business up and running, get a non disclosure and non compete contract signed. The last thing you want is to find out that the person you're outsourcing the work to has suddenly setup shop in YOUR market using your SAME ideas. Hey, it's going to happen anyway when copycats see your site. Don't let them get a jump on you in addition. As I said, it's competitive out there. You need to retain every advantage that you can. And part of that is keeping things to yourself. In other words...keep your trap shut. To YOUR Success, Steven Wagenheim Looking for a solid 4 step plan to building your own business...FREE?
