Affiliate Marketing Tips – The Pros and Cons of High Gravity
Filed under: Affiliate Marketing; No CommentsIf you’re an affiliate marketer, you most likely know all about the Clickbank marketplace. It’s only the most popular affiliate marketplace on the planet, and for good reasons. You’ll find more products to sell there than just about anywhere else. However, there are things you should know about picking affiliate products to sell, especially when it comes to gravity. It’s not all roses in either direction, as you’ll soon see.
For those of you who don’t know what gravity is, it’s a weighted average of affiliates who are successfully selling a particular product at the marketplace. So if you see a gravity of say, 100, that means there are roughly 100 affiliates who are making money selling this product. Now, this number can be a little deceiving because of the way gravity is computed, but I’m not going to get into that in this article as it’s not really relevant to what we’re going to cover.
Many affiliates feel that you want to sell products with a high gravity. The reasoning behind this thinking is that since many affiliates are making money selling the product, the product must be easy to sell. Well, that may not be entirely true. Some affiliates may only be making relatively few sales. This goes back to the way that gravity is computed. So just because a product has a gravity of 100 or 300, doesn’t mean all those affiliates are making tons of money.
Also, there is this problem. Let’s say that all those affiliates ARE making tons of sales. Well, what that means is that you’ve got a lot of competition. Unless you’re a crackerjack affiliate marketer, it may be very hard for you to really get a foothold in the marketplace.
The other side of this coin is picking a product with a very low gravity. This can work in your favor IF the product is a good one with a good sales page. In that case, you could end up with a lot of sales since you’ll have no competition. However, it may be that the product isn’t good or the sales page doesn’t convert and that’s why the gravity is so low. In this case, you’d be wasting your time promoting the product.
Picking just the right gravity is an art, and you can get more info on this below in my signature.
Affiliate marketing can be a piece of cake IF you know what you’re doing.
