    Article Writing Tips – How Well Structured Are Yours?

    Filed under: Article Writing;

    It doesn’t matter what you’re writing about. It can be health, sports, entertainment or politics. If you’re article isn’t well structured, you’re going to lose your reader. If that happens, you can forget about achieving your objective whether it be as a marketer, freelancer or whatever. This article is going to give you some basic tips on article structure that should keep your article from losing its audience.

    Good structure actually begins with the title of the article. Your article title should give the reader a very good idea of what they’re going to be reading. If the title is vague or ambiguous, you’re probably not even going to get the person to read what’s inside. Make your titles as short as possible and still get the message across.

    Next we come to the article itself. You don’t want to just start talking about your subject. You want to prepare the person for what he’s about to read. This is accomplished with a brief introduction of about 50 to 75 words. The introduction should be specific enough so that the reader, again, has a very good idea of what’s going to come next. Otherwise, they’ll never make it past the first paragraph. A great way to set up the rest of your article here is to give the reader a few bullet points on what will be covered.

    This brings us to the meat of your article. With a great introductory setup, this really becomes easy. All you need to do is cover each bullet point one paragraph at a time. This keeps the structure nice and tight and at the same time, gives the reader exactly what he expects to find in your article. Each of these paragraphs should be relatively short. Anywhere around 100 words is fine.

    Finally, there is your summary. This should also be short just like your introduction. This is where you essentially sum up what you’ve just said to the reader. The fine points of the article should be covered here. And that’s it. It’s not rocket science.

    It’s amazing how many writers don’t follow this simple process, but if you simply come up with a title that tells the reader what he’s going to read, give him a short intro to do the same, cover each bullet point in a separate paragraph and finally sum up the main points, you’ll have no problem writing an article that will keep your reader interested.

    Just like this one.
