Article Writing Tips – Is Your Writing Getting Stale?
Filed under: Article Writing; Tagged as: Article Writing, tips on article writing, writing an articleNo CommentsIs your diet getting you down? Do you suffer from acid indigestion? Oh wait, wrong cue card. I’m sorry. Ah, here we go. This is the right one. Okay, is your article writing getting stale? Does it read like 30 day old bread? Are you putting your readers to sleep or worse…sending them off into a coma? If so, I have the solution to your problem. This article is going to share a few tips that just might freshen up your article writing a bit and have your readers eating out of the palm of your hands.
Okay, first tip. Come up with an interesting title for your article…something off the wall but relevant to the topic you’re writing on. You want to get your reader’s attention and that’s the best way to do it. Think of the kind of titles that get YOU to read an article. There are many ways to do this. A great benefit is one way. A shocking revelation is another. Promising to reveal a closely guarded secret is yet another. Just don’t let your title sit there like a lump of coal.
Next tip…be free with your writing. Don’t be afraid to be silly or stupid. Take a look at the way I started this article. You probably had no idea where it was coming from. It made you stop for a second and that made you want to read more. You were intrigued. At the very least, you were thinking that I had popped my cork somewhere down the road. Remember that Barry Manilow tune? Ah, I remember it well.
Here’s another great tip. Don’t be afraid to use humor in your writing. You don’t have to be a joke writer but a chuckle here and there can’t hurt. Certainly you have a sense of humor. I mean for crying out loud, you have to have a sense of humor to survive in this world. Just the other day…oh never mind. You wouldn’t believe it anyway. Oh really? You want to know what happened?
That’s another great tip. Keep your readers hanging on by not revealing certain things right away. Make them wait for it. Then, after hinting to the topic, later on, maybe towards the end of the article, reveal what it was that you were hinting at earlier. This is a great way to keep your reader hanging on your every word.
Okay, want to know what happened that was so funny? We had a power failure in the middle of a funeral service with sirens and cop cars and traffic lights going out and everything going crazy because of a fire in town. We all had a good laugh, which is hard to do at a funeral service. At least it lightened the mood a bit.
Anyway, let yourself go. Have some fun with your article writing.
You’ll find that it will get better and better with age.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
