Article Writing Tips – Keywords in Titles

If you’re an article writer, especially one who writes for marketing purposes, you understand the importance of getting your keywords in the title of your article. However, sometimes this just isn’t that easy to do, especially with some long tail keywords. In this article, I’m going to give you some tips on squeezing those keywords into your article, no matter how hard they may be.

Let me start off by saying that because of LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) you don’t have to have the keywords in the exact order that they are searched for. You do have some wiggle room here. So don’t drive yourself crazy trying to get “snoring how to stop” into your title. There are alternatives that you can use.

Let’s start with very generic keyword phrases where it would seem difficult to write many articles using that phrase. As an example, let’s use “Internet Marketing Tips” which is a keyword phrase I use a lot. How do I do this? Simple. I’ll take the keyword phrase, place a dash after it and then use a sub phrase to complete my article title. For example, “Internet Marketing Tips – Advertising On A Budget.” By using this technique, you can write many articles on the same subject.

What about those keyword phrases that don’t quite sound so good by themselves? For example, “Stop Smoking How To.” Doesn’t really make a lot of sense the way it is. But what if we used the same tactic as we did above, using the dash. We could come up with something like, “Stop Smoking – How To Do It For Good.” This now makes sense, reads well and also keeps the keyword phrase completely intact.

Then of course you have those really screwy phrases…the ones that you really can’t use as they are no matter how many dashes you put in them. For these phrases, you simply have to rearrange the wording just a bit. As I said, because of LSI, the search engines will know that the article relates to that phrase and will rank it accordingly. For example, for the keyword phrase, “instructions how to turkey cook” which is a total mess, you would rearrange it to something like, “Instructions On How To Cook A Turkey.” All the words are there…just a little out of order. Don’t worry…it works.

There you have it. By following these simple tips, you should have no trouble fitting just about any keyword phrase into the title of your article.
