Article Writing Tips – Promise and Deliver
Filed under: Article Writing; Tagged as: Article Writing, tips on article writing, writing an articleNo CommentsArticle writing is taking a real beating these days, especially with so many marketers trying to game the system. I’m going to explain why in a second but that’s not the main focus of this article. The main focus is simple. If you want to gain the respect of your reader and be seen as a credible writer, you must promise and then deliver on that promise. Otherwise, your reputation as a writer is going to go right down the tubes. So, in keeping with that spirit, in this article I’m going to explain how marketers are gaming the system and what YOU need to do for that not to happen.
Okay, let’s start with the marketers first. What exactly is it that they’re doing? Well, the best way to explain it is with an example. Let’s say somebody writes an article with the title, “A Great Natural Cure For Baldness.” Now, somebody seeing that title would not be wrong to think that the article is about a great natural cure for baldness. Well, what marketers are doing is they’re using that title as a teaser. They don’t actually reveal the natural cure for baldness in the article but point people to a sales page in their resource box that sells that natural cure. It’s nothing but a glorified sales pitch.
The article itself might only go into things like what causes baldness and traditional treatments, but doesn’t give any tips on treating baldness naturally. This is just plain wrong. There are no two ways about it and thank goodness great article directories like Ezine Articles are cracking down on this crud by rejecting the articles.
Still…some sneak through. However, when this happens, you lose all credibility with the reader because you tricked them into reading your article.
Okay, so how do you avoid doing this? The answer is simple. When you come up with a title for your article, if it’s one that even just implies a promise that certain information is going to be revealed, you better at least reveal some of that information. It doesn’t have to be every natural baldness cure ever invented. One is all you need. And THEN if you want to direct the reader to other cures through your resource box, that’s fine. At least you’ve delivered on your promise.
A lot of people reading this right now are probably saying, “Duh..well of course.”
Which makes me wonder why so many writers don’t do it.
To YOUR Success,
