Article Writing Tips – Stuck For a Title?
Filed under: Article Writing; Tagged as: Article Writing, tips on article writing, writing an articleNo CommentsOne of the hardest things to do is come up with a title for your article. You know what you want to write about but you just aren’t sure about what kind of title to stick to that article so that people will read it. And sometimes, the brain just goes completely dead and you can’t think of anything at all. Well, you can relax. This article is going to give you a few title writing ideas that should do the trick nicely.
Since there are so many ways to come up with titles (if you really think about it) I can’t possibly go over them all in one article, but I can give you a few easy ones. The first is the “who, what or where” article title. This is where you choose one of those words and use it to begin your article. For example, let’s say you’re writing an article on vacation spots. You might come up with a title like, “Where Is The Best Place To Go For Surfing?” This would appeal to people who are looking for vacation spots where you can surf. Who, what or where article titles work very well because they ask questions that the reader wants answered.
Another great title technique is the “number of ways” title. This is where you provide the reader with a number of ways or tips to do a particular thing. For example, let’s say you’re writing an article on traffic generation. You might come up with something like “3 Killer Ways To Get Traffic For Free”. This sort of title is certain to get a reader’s attention. Notice the use of the word “killer.” If you think that’s too over the top for your taste, you might want to substitute the word “effective” in its place. Do whatever you’re comfortable with.
And then of course there is the sensational title, which is particularly effective for news stories. Let’s be honest, everybody loves hot and juicy gossip or a big scandal. Look at the rag mags and you’ll see headlines using this tactic all the time. For example, let’s say you’re writing an article about a politician that was just caught having an affair. You might write something like, “John Doe Caught In Sex Kitten’s Trailer.” Makes for some really good reading, especially at night. It’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but it’s very effective if used properly.
As I said, there are plenty of other tactics you can use for titles, but these three should be more than enough to get you started.
