Article Writing Tips – V is For Value
Filed under: Article Writing; Tagged as: Article Writing, tips on article writing, writing an articleNo CommentsBum Marketing was a great idea. The guy who came up with it, Travis Sago, is a genius. Unfortunately, as with any good method, this one has generated a lot of hack article writers…people who just write any old piece of garbage for the soul purpose of getting somebody to their squeeze page, blog, sales page or whatever. Providing actual value to the reader has become an afterthought. Well, I got a news a flash for you buddy…this mentality, in the long run, is going to lose you readers faster than General Custer lost friends at Little Big Horn.
In order to understand why providing value is so important (like I should really have to explain this?) you have to put yourself in the shoes of the reader. Let’s take a hypothetical example, okay? Let’s say that you’re looking for a solution to a problem that you’re having with your feet. They hurt constantly and you don’t know why. You’ve been to doctors but nobody can find anything. So you resort to alternative treatments and go out looking for one. You spot an article that says “Cure Foot Pain Permanently.” Now, don’t you think that a person seeing that, somebody who is having some serious issues with foot pain, is going to light up like a Christmas tree when they see that article title?
So what do you think is going to happen when that person reads the article and finds nothing of value in it? For starters, they’re going to be very disappointed in the content of the article. But more important than that, at least as far as YOUR credibility goes, they’re unlikely to read any other articles that you put out. Why should they? After all, the one they DID read was about as useful as oxygen to a dead man.
By shortchanging your readers, you ultimately only end up hurting your own reputation. The more you give, the more you will get back in return because people will WANT to read your articles. This in turn will attract you more readers as these people will recommend you to their friends.
So the next time you sit down to write an article, think of your readers first.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
