Article Writing Tips – Word Repetition Beyond Keywords
Filed under: Article Writing; Tagged as: Article Writing, tips on article writing, writing an article1 CommentThis is a subject that I never really touched upon but I think it’s about time. Word repetition in your articles can literally make or break them. That last sentence is a perfect example of what I’m talking about, and I’m going to illustrate it as one of my examples. So if you’re ready for an advanced lecture on article writing, sit back and relax. This one is going to be a real joy ride.
Let’s take this sentence.
“Word repetition in your articles can literally make or break them.”
Now, let’s replace one word in that sentence with two words.
“Word repetition in your articles can literally make or break your articles.”
See what happened? I used “your articles” twice in that second sentence. For one thing, it’s not necessary to repeat the phrase as readers should know what you’re referring to. But more importantly, it just plain sounds bad. It’s annoying to hear “your articles” repeated so close to each other. Imagine a whole article of repeating words like that. Do you think many people would stick around to read the whole thing?
And make no mistake about it, there are plenty of garbage articles out there that are written in JUST this manner. Why? Well, the biggest reason is word padding. If you use “them”, that’s one less word than if you use “your articles.” Oh trust me, enough of these little substitutions and you can have a 350 word article written that says absolutely nothing.
Naturally, repeating keyword phrases over and over is going to get your article rejected by most directories for being oversaturated. So you definitely want to keep your keywords to a minimum. However, they’re not the only problem. Simple repetition of common words can send your reader into a coma.
If you look back through this article, you will find almost no repetition within sentences. That’s the way an article SHOULD be written so that it flows smoothly and is easy on the ears. Learning how to do this is another matter and is way beyond the scope of this article. For now, just be aware of when you’re repeating yourself more than you should.

Those are some good points. I see alot of these types of poorly written topics in article directories. If only people would use more common sense! Thanks for the great article.
