Article Writing Tips – Writing Under Stress
Filed under: Article Writing; Tagged as: Article Writing, tips on article writing, writing an articleNo CommentsThere is nothing worse than waking up in the morning and finding out that your business is down or your best friend just passed away. Stress is a killer for sure. But what do you do if you have to write no matter what kind of stress you’re under? Some people can’t think at all in these situations. Well, if you’re under stress and still have an article writing deadline to meet, these tips will help to get that article out to your client without much additional stress.
First thing I do when I have to write and I’m under stress is sit down and take a deep breath. No, I’m not kidding. Collect yourself. Go for a walk if you have to, but make it a quick walk. Remember, you have a deadline to meet. Make yourself a cup of Earl Grey tea. It will help relax you a lot. Trust me on this. Then, make sure you’re comfortable at your computer, take one last deep breath and slowly get to work. Don’t type fast and don’t rush. This will only add to the stress level. Take your time.
Next thing I do is write out an outline of what it is I want to write about. This way, I don’t have to worry about thinking so much. With the outline in front of me, I can simply look at it and then come up with something to write on each point. The outline shouldn’t take you more than five or ten minutes to put together. After that, the actual writing of the article shouldn’t take more than another ten or fifteen minutes for a 500 word article.
Finally, after you are done writing, sit down and proofread it carefully. The reason I say this is because, under stress, we are more likely to make mistakes than when we are calm. So it is critical that you take a little bit more time to proofread your article than you normally would. If you can get somebody to proofread it for you, that would even be better. Truth is, you’re way too wound up now to do a proper job.
Stress is no fun and it’s difficult to work under it. I should know. Lately, I’ve been under more stress (the passing of my mother) than I care to admit to. It’s not fun. But ultimately, I have a job to do and it needs to be done. The tips I’ve given you help me a lot.
Trust me…they’ll help you too.
To YOUR Success,
