Article Writing Tips – X is For X Factor
Filed under: Article Writing; Tagged as: Article Writing, tips on article writing, writing an articleNo CommentsThere are only two more installments of article writing tips, A-Z, after this one. That means all those people who bet that I wouldn’t pull this off are going to be out a few bucks. I think I’ll treat myself to a new guitar. Anyway, this installment brings us to the letter X which stands for X-factor. Don’t know what the X-factor is? No problem. This article reveals all.
Did you ever wonder what it was that separated the great athletes from the good ones? Why is it that there is only one Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods? This is what I call the X-factor…that intangible that makes these people stand out. But what exactly is it?
Well, it could be several things. For one, it could simply be that these people were born with an incredible amount of talent. In writing, that translates to a person just having a way with words that can’t be described. Maybe they didn’t even have much formal training. All they did was read a lot and from that, became great writers in their own right. I don’t personally know anybody like this, but I am sure that they exist.
More likely, however, is that these people, the Jordans and the Woods, worked very hard at their game. They practiced day and night. They worked until they were exhausted and then they worked some more. They didn’t know the meaning of the word “quit.” These people pushed themselves harder than the rest and that’s why they rose to the top of the heap. In my case, there were days when I wrote for 10 hours or more. I would write until my eyes wouldn’t stay open any longer. And then I wrote some more.
Talent or hard work…to me, those are the X-factors. If you’re not incredibly talented and just go through the motions, maybe writing an article or two a day, you’re probably not going to become the writer that you could become. Now maybe that’s not important to you. I don’t know. But I do know this. The article writing world is a very competitive one. There are writers out there who are extremely good at what they do. If you want to compete with them, you MUST be at the top of your game…wherever that game may be.
The writers who understand the X-factor are the ones who make careers out of writing.
