    Copywriting Tips – 3 Super Tips For Getting Testimonials

    Nothing says credibility better than a sales letter with some killer testimonials. The problem that many beginning copywriters have is that they don’t know how to go about getting testimonials…at least not any that are going to do the job properly. So the purpose of this article is to give you three super tips for getting those kind of testimonials that really do the job.

    The biggest mistake that beginning copywriters make is that when they send a product to somebody to review for a testimonial is that they’ll say something like, “If you like it, could you provide me with a testimonial for the product.” This is way too general. You have to be more specific than that. The reason is because these people are not professional copywriters. They don’t know what to tell you. So their testimonials end up sounding like, “Hey, great product…Thanks.” This ISN’T going to cut it.

    So the first tip is to be very specific when requesting a testimonial. The best way to be specific is by sending a questionnaire with the request. Ask the prospect specific questions related to the product itself. Ask them to answer them honestly. Now, naturally doing it his way, the testimonial won’t be in proper format. So what you need to do is then say at the end of the request, “May I use your answers in the form of a testimonial?” Most people won’t have a problem with that.

    The second tip is to make sure you get a photo with the testimonial. Why do I say this? Because a photo makes these people more real to your prospects. Being able to see the person who is saying how great your product is means a lot and will greatly help in selling it. Photos sell. Remember that.

    Finally, make sure that you format the testimonial on the sales page itself with a header just above it that highlights the best line from the testimonial. This will draw prospects attention to the testimonial so that they will be more likely to read it.

    Testimonials greatly increase your conversions IF they are done properly.
