Copywriting Tips – 3 Tips For Stronger Sales Letters
Filed under: Copywriting; No CommentsIt’s all in the copy. It’s pretty sad to say but you can have the best product in the world and make no sales if your sales letter is garbage. On the flip side, you can have a product that is so-so at best and make a ton of sales if you have great copy. It may not be fair but it’s the way the world works. The better salesmen make more sales, regardless of how good the product is or isn’t. Well, in this article, I’m going to share with you three solid tips for stronger sales letters that will ultimately make you more sales.
At the top of the list, and maybe the most important thing of all, is your headline. Statistics show that the headline of your sales letter is going to be responsible for about 80% of your sales. The reason is simple. If your headline is weak, nobody is going to bother reading the rest of your copy because you just didn’t capture their attention. One way to come up with a strong headline is to mention a particular benefit that the prospect is going to get from the product. Something like, “Cure Your Warts In 3 Days – Guaranteed” works wonders for a wart removal product.
Another way to strengthen your sales letter is with testimonials. It’s one thing for the creator of the product to say how good his product is. It’s another thing to have other people raving about it. Prospects take comfort in knowing that others have found the product useful. Naturally, the stronger the testimonial, the more weight it will carry. That’s why you want to make sure that the people who use your products give you testimonials that will do the job. Best way to accomplish this is to send them a questionnaire to fill out. Then ask them if you can put it in testimonial form. Most folks will have no problem with you doing that.
Finally, there is your closing. The greatest sales letter in the world will fall apart if the closing isn’t strong. Too many people say things like, “Click below to order.” Trust me, this isn’t going to do it. This is a weak closing. You need to put the words into the prospect’s mouth. Something like, “Yes Steve, I want to get my hands on this fantastic do-hickey right away” will do the trick. Make them click on that buy now button.
If you follow these simple but effective tips, you’ll be writing stronger sales letters that will make you more sales.
