Copywriting Tips – Are You Really Prepared For the Job?
Filed under: Copywriting; No CommentsI laugh at some copywriters. They think that as long as they’re crackerjack writers that’s all they need to write great salescopy. Well, it’s not that simple. Even the great Michel Fortin and others like him use tools to help them with their writing. I use them too. We all do. We don’t just rely on our heads. So, you’re probably thinking, what kind of tools do I need? Well, this article is going to share just a few of the many tools that you’re going to need if you’re going to write decent salescopy. Make sure your toolkit includes all of these.
Probably the most important tool you’ll need is something to help you with coming up with great headlines. Why is this so important? It is a fact that 80% of the sales that you make will be because of your headline. The reason is simple. If the headline doesn’t attract the prospect’s attention right away, do you really think they’re going to bother to read the rest of the copy? No, they won’t. So coming up with a great headline is critical to the rest of your copy. There are plenty of headline tools out there to choose from. Get one of them.
The next thing a great copywriter does not do without is a great swipe file of headlines, copy, guarantees and so on. Why is this so important? Look, there is only so much you’re going to think of all by yourself. And besides, there has been so much great copy written over the years for just about every niche, why bother knocking yourself out trying to think of something? The copy is already out there. All you have to do is get a hold of a great swipe file and use it for ideas. There are plenty of places to find swipe files. I suggest you get on this right away.
Finally, there are tips and tricks that you’ll need to improve your copy. There are plenty of places online that have accumulated some of the best copywriting tips ever created. Now, it’s easy to get yourself lost at these places so don’t go crazy with them. Just get what you need for the job you need to do and get out. Otherwise, you’re going to be spending more time reading than actually writing your copy.
In my signature, you’ll find a review of what I feel is the best copywriting toolkit available. I think you’ll find it very interesting reading.
So, are you REALLY prepared for the job? If not, you now know what you’ll need to do.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
