Filed under: Copywriting; Tagged as: Copywriting, copywriting course, Copywriting tips, copywriting tips for beginners, learn copywritingNo CommentsEvery copywriter has a nightmare. We all have them. I dread and every day when I wake up. Fortunately, because we are able to choose our clients, we can minimize the nightmares that we have. However, there are going to be those days when we are unable to avoid these problems. This article is going to cover some of the nightmares that we as copywriters run into every day. It is my hope that these simple tips will help eliminate these problems.
One of the biggest nightmares any copywriter faces is having a client who cannot follow directions. Let’s face it, not every body was born a super genius. Sometimes we get clients who simply cannot follow this simplest instructions. When this happens, you have to stay calm and try to communicate as best as you can.
One problem you will run into is in asking for testimonials. The client will get back to you and tell you that he doesn’t have any. This is when you need to tell him that he has to give out some sample copies of his product in order to get these testimonials. He is going to be reluctant to do this. You need to tell him that it is imperative that he get these testimonials to increase conversions. Eventually, you will get through to him. If not, tell him that you cannot adequately do his sales page.
Another problem you will run into is asking for bonuses. In many niches, bonuses are almost required. In the make money niche. If you do not include bonuses your sales will greatly decrease. The problem is, many of your clients will not have bonuses. When this happens, you need to tell him that it is important that he do his best to come up with something. He won’t probably fight you on this, saying that he can’t think of anything. But if you tell him to sit down and think about it, he will come up with something.
Another problem you will run into is the price. Many of your clients will overprice their products. It is your job to tell him that the price point of this product is too high and he will lose sales because of this. Again, he will fight you on this saying that this is the price he is going to charge. When this happens, what you should do is suggest that he split test the price against another price and see which one performs better. Once he sees that a lower price brings in more sales, he will be more willing to go with that price.
If you follow these simple tips, you will greatly minimize the headaches that you will run into as a copywriter.
