Copywriting Tips – Breaking Into The Big Time
Filed under: Copywriting; Tagged as: Copywriting, copywriting course, Copywriting tips, copywriting tips for beginners, learn copywritingNo CommentsAre a lot of people that I speak to ask me how they can get into copywriting. Most of them have been trying to make a name for themselves, but have not been succeeding. So they asked me how I do it. Well the answer is really very simple… I work hard at it. There is no shortcut for hard work. In addition to that, it takes a lot of marketing to build a name for yourself. It doesn’t matter how good a copywriter you are, if nobody knows you exist, you are not going to get any clients. So in this article, I am going to show you how to build a name for yourself as a copywriter. Hopefully, it after you are done reading this, you’ll have a pretty good idea on how to go about it.
The easiest way to make a name for yourself as a copywriter is to hit the copywriting forums. These forums are usually swarming with people looking for good sales copy. To start out, you may have to offer your copy at a huge discount. A lot of copywriters don’t want to do this, but it is usually the best way to break into the business. Some copywriters will even offer to do one or two sales letters for free in exchange for a testimonial. Trust me, one or two good testimonials can be all it takes to break into the business. Once you have them, other people will seek you out to write sales copy for them.
Another way to break into the business is to simply go out there and advertise. You can use Google Adwords, maybe take out a few solo ads, and even hit the classifieds. There are allways people looking for good sales copy. Granted, you’ll have to start out at lower fees than the big boys, but as you gain a reputation, you will be able to start charging more and more for your services. There are some copy writers out there who are charging $15,000 or more for one sales letter. For some people, that’s a half years income. Naturally, it takes a while to get there, but if you keep at it, you can make a good living as a copywriter.
Basically it comes down to hard work and persistence. But I never said that becoming a copywriter was easy. If it was everybody would be doing it.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
