Copywriting Tips – Bringing Your Bullet Points To Life
Filed under: Copywriting; Tagged as: Copywriting, copywriting course, Copywriting tips, copywriting tips for beginners, learn copywritingNo CommentsOne thing I love to do when going over somebody’s sales page is to browse through their bullet points to see if they’ve done everything that they can to really make them stand out. You’d be surprised how many bullet points are lackluster and just plain awful…and I’m not just talking about the content. This article is going to give you a few ways to spice up your bullet points without having to even change the actual wording of them. Sounds like a magic trick? No trick. Keep reading and you’ll find out some little secrets to make your bullet points stand out and really come to life.
Taking the same bullet point without even changing the wording, one way to make the bullet point stand out is to bold or underline some of the words in the bullet point. Now you’re not going to just pick out words at random. You want to emphasize words that make sense. For example, let’s take this bullet point.
“A system that runs on AUTOPILOT and rakes in MASSIVE cash EVERYDAY”
I’ve capitalized the words in the bullet point that you should be highlighting. You want to highlight autopilot because it shows that the system runs without you doing much work. You want to highlight massive because it shows how much cash you make and you want to highlight everyday because it shows that this will happen each day you do it. When these words are highlighted, it brings the bullet point to life.
Another way to bring your bullet point to life is by not burying it among a dozen bullet points. Many copywriters will put all their bullet points together without breaking them up. Once you go beyond a certain number of bullet points, the prospect loses interest. There is just too much to read and nobody has that kind of patience to read all those bullet points at once. Rule of thumb is that you shouldn’t have more than four to six consecutive bullet points.
Finally, there is the way the bullet point is displayed. A checkmark or some kind of graphic is preferred over a simple dot. Why? The reason is simple. A checkmark or graphic is going to stand out more and attract the prospect’s attention better than a simple dot. It may sound like a trivial matter but trust me, it’s not. The fancier the bullet itself is, the more prospects will notice it.
If you do these few simple things, your bullet points WILL come to life.
