Copywriting Tips – Copywriting Shortcuts
Filed under: Copywriting; Tagged as: Copywriting, copywriting course, Copywriting tips, copywriting tips for beginners, learn copywritingNo CommentsAs I get older, I find that I look for anything I can to make my life easier. If I can take a process and shorten it, I’ll do it. When it comes to writing a sales letter, that’s no different. I don’t want to spend eight hours writing copy if I can find a way to do it in six or even four. In this article, I’m going to share with you a few copywriting shortcuts that I use that greatly reduce the amount of time that I spend writing a sales letter. I think you’ll find that if you use these as well, you’ll reduce the amount of time YOU spend as well.
My favorite shortcut is simple cut and paste. Naturally, this will depend on the kind of sales letters you’re writing. As I write mainly for the “make money online” niche, there are a lot of cut and paste parts that I can turn to. For example, the PS section. This is usually something to remind the prospect that the offer is only good for a certain length of time at the price in the copy. I’ll usually make a standard PS for this and then just change a few words to make it fit. Same thing with my pay section. I’ll use standard wording like, “Yes (name) I want your (name of package) now! I understand that…etc.” Doing things like this saves a lot of time when writing a sales letter.
Another shortcut I use is in choosing my template. I don’t want to have to design something from scratch, so I’ll go into my bag of templates and pick out one that I think is appropriate for the letter. These are templates that I either created myself or ones that I purchased or got for free if I find a good one at one of those free download sites. Believe it or not, you CAN find some great sales letter templates for free if you just spend a little time looking around.
Finally, I’ll keep a swipe file of phrases and such that I can use in the letter itself. Most of my swipe file consists of headlines. This saves me a lot of time in having to come up with a headline for the product. If you take a look at most of the top sales letters, you’ll see quite a few similarities in them. This is probably because most of these copywriters keep swipe files themselves. No sense in reinventing the wheel if you don’t have to.
By using copy and paste, pre-made templates and keeping a swipe file of phrases and headlines, you can greatly decrease the amount of time YOU spend writing a sales letter.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
