Copywriting Tips – Don’t Throw Away the PS
Filed under: Copywriting; Tagged as: Copywriting, copywriting course, Copywriting tips, copywriting tips for beginners, learn copywritingNo CommentsFor many beginning copywriters, the PS is an afterthought…something to just throw in to have something to say. For others, they don’t even bother with it. The PS can be one of the most effective parts of your sales letter if it’s used properly. In this article, I’m going to share some PS generation secrets that will most certainly improve the effectiveness of your copy.
First off, let me explain why the PS is so important. Many prospects don’t read your whole sales letter. Truth is, few people read whole sales letters because of their length. They check out the headline, bullet points, the price, maybe some testimonials and finally…the PS. It is one of the things that most people will glance over because a well written one can almost sell the whole letter. Okay, so what is a well written PS?
For starters, and this is at minimum, it should contain a brief summary of what the prospect is getting and any terms they should know, such as time the offer is available, quantity being sold and so on. It shouldn’t take you more than three or four sentences to basically summarize the main items in the sales letter, especially the special price the product is being sold for.
But that’s just the start. This is where the PS takes on a life of its own. Here is a perfect opportunity to reveal something that is NOT discussed in the body of the sales letter, such as an unadvertised bonus. Imagine coming up with a PS that says something like this for a make money online product.
PS – In addition to the 79 page book on using pay per click promotional methods, as a special bonus, I’m also including a 10 page web site all ready to go to take orders. All you need to do is plug in your Clickbank ID and it’s ready to go.
This PS could very well push the prospect over the edge from prospect to paying customer. The key is to include a bonus that is so good, it’s almost as good as the product itself…if not better.
A well thought out PS can increase conversion considerably. So don’t just throw it in there as an afterthought and for crying out loud, don’t leave it out of your sales letter completely.
The master copywriters use the PS because it works.
To YOUR Success,
