    Copywriting Tips – Optimizing Your Sales Page

    Filed under: Copywriting;

    Having a killer product, at least these days, isn’t enough to guarantee sales. If you want to have the best chance of converting your visitors to sales, you need to make sure that your sales page is as optimized as possible. There are several ways that you can go about doing this, some of which will be covered in this article. After reading this, you should have some solid tips for turning your sales page into a cash generating machine.

    The first thing you need to do, and this is a must, is hit your visitor with a headline that is going to grab their attention quickly. You only have a few seconds to do this so your headline has to stand out. Not only that, but it can’t be too long. You want to use as few words and lines (no more than three or four) to get your main message across. Plus, you want your headline to be in larger font than the rest of your message and in a different color. Red is best.

    The next thing you want to do is make sure you have a graphic for your product. If you’re selling an ebook, you’re going to want to have a professionally made ebook cover. Studies have been made that show that sales pages with ebook covers convert better than pages without covers. If you have the artistic skills, you can create these covers using something like Photoshop and action scripts. If you don’t have the skills, get them professionally designed. It will pay off in the long run.

    The next thing you want to do is make sure that you have sub heads for every page length of copy. This is so that you capture the attention of the skimmers. Not everybody reads sales copy all the way through. So, by having sub heads, you capture the attention of those who like to skim through copy looking for the main points of it.

    The next thing you want to do is add bullet points to your copy. These are the key features and benefits of your product. Again, some people only look for the main points of interest and bullet points certainly fit in with this thought process.

    The next thing you want to do is add testimonials to your sales copy. Let’s face it, people are skeptical. If they see that there are testimonials for your product, they’ll be more likely to take a chance on your product, especially if it comes with a money back guarantee. This is another very important thing to include.

    Finally, you want to include a PS to remind people that they only have so much time to take advantage of this offer, or whatever else you want to remind them of. Using a PS is a great way of getting a sale that you normally wouldn’t get.

    These few tips only scratch the surface, but they should be more than enough to get your sales page copy off to a good start.
