What Is Viscous Lidocaine

In this article, I'm going to explain why this is happening and what, if anything, you can do about it. Yes my friend, the times they are a changing.
So that this article is not just about the FTC ruling on testimonials, I'm going to briefly give you the Reader's Digest version. In a nutshell, it is no longer good enough to have a testimonial where somebody says that they had certain results with your product and then somewhere under it say, "These results are typical." That's not going to wash with the new FTC ruling. Now, you have to say something like, "The average person gets these results." Okay, got it, what is viscous lidocaine. That's the law in a nutshell.
Let me now explain why this effectively kills testimonials.
For starters, lidocaine goat, let's say you've sold 500 copies of an ebook on weight loss. Let's say out of those 500 copies, 10 people reported results to you, and all the results were in the range of 20 to 40 pounds lost in a month. What is viscous lidocaine, In order to be able to use those testimonials, you have to be able to tell what the average results are for the other 490 people. Well, how can you do that when they didn't get back to you. Do you have ANY idea what results they got. Do you even know if they USED the product. Okay, that's reason number one why this kills testimonials.
Reason number two is the alternative testimonial where somebody says something like, "I bought the product, what is viscous lidocaine. It was very well written and I really liked it." There is nothing wrong with that testimonial and you can use it without any worry at all. There is also nothing good about it either. Testimonials where people just say, Hemorrhoid lidocaine, "I liked the product" are NOT effective motivators to get prospects to buy. Prospects want to see results. What is viscous lidocaine, And since you can no longer show them results (unless you really CAN get numbers for those other 490 people) then you have nothing to show the prospect that is REALLY going to push their hot buttons...at least not as far as testimonials go.
Thus, the testimonial, for all practical purposes, is dead. Well, maybe not dead, but certainly not as effective as it used to be. I guess if you can get 50 people to say how much they loved your product without making any claims as far as results, then maybe you can make a few sales from those testimonials. But make no mistake about it...the testimonial has taken a severe hit with this ruling and, quite honestly, there is very little we can do about it...at least not on the copywriting side.

Good. It is about time.
Maybe now we get a sales page that is not a mile long and contains a lot of useless testimonials such as:“I found this product interesting …….”
“This method is certainly doable …..”Etc, etc.

I agree. It was hard to tell which testimonials were real and which ones were there either to gain backlinks or to make money off of a JV.
It’s a shame that it had to come to this though.

Thanks for the heads up again Steve, but I was already aware of the legislation.
Personally, I won’t lose any sleep over this.
If you are in the Internet Marketing business, a huge niche though it is, you soon get to know who is friends with whom and who is JVing and so on and so on.
Heck when I see the latest must have promotion, I could write ten variations of one testimonial (that I made up myself out of the blue) and low and behold very similar testimonials appear on the pre-sell and sales pages for that promotion.
We, as Internet Marketers, may use testimonials, but we are hardened to their persuasiveness, although I accept that this will not apply to newbies.
I think that this legislation is aimed at protecting the average consumer who obviously, is outside of the IM niche, but nevertheless needs to be ‘protected’ against unscrupulous advertising. After all, they are in the majority, no matter where in the world you live.

Gareth, not a lawyer so I can’t answer that. It’s something that does need to be looked into though.

So let me get this straight… the FCC decided to spend it’s recourses to regulate the internet marketing community while, it looks the other way and says nothing about all the political advertisements on TV… weather it be the past election or healthcare, BOTH sides of these advertisements can’t be true. One side or quite possible both sides are lying to the general public and this is false advertisement.
I almost put up a website during the elections to try and muster up public outrage of the out right lies that we as Americans were being feed, without the FCC saying anything. I still say that the American people should organize and pressure… no DEMAND that they pass just ONE law that would do more to save this country than any law ever passed.
OUTLAW ALL Lobbyists!
