Copywriting Tips – The Responsibility is Yours
Filed under: Copywriting; Tagged as: Copywriting, copywriting course, Copywriting tips, copywriting tips for beginners, learn copywritingNo CommentsThe great thing about being a copywriter is that you’re in control of most of the process. The reason I say most of the process is that there are a few things that are out of your control, which I will be touching on in this article. However, having said that, the bottom line is still your responsibility. If the things that are out of your control cannot be handled to YOUR satisfaction, it is up to YOU to tell the client that you cannot finish the job unless these matters are handled to YOUR specifications. I’ll explain.
One of these things that is out of your control is testimonials. As a good copywriter, you should know that testimonials are critical to increasing conversions for the product. However, testimonials have to be real and it is not your responsibility to get them. It is up to the creator of the product to have those who have used the product to provide you with those testimonials. If they can’t, it is your job to remind them that without these testimonials, you cannot do your job properly.
Another thing that is out of your control is bonuses. Bonuses are another area where the more value you give, the more sales you’ll make. However, these bonuses are not for your to give. They are for the product creator to give. If they can’t come up with a bonus that actually has value, it is up to YOU as the copywriter to point out that without these they are not going to make as many sales and that you would prefer not to write the copy unless suitable bonuses were provided.
Finally, there is the guarantee and price. These are really out of your control. In some cases, when a product creator goes with Clickbank, the guarantee is set at 60 days and there is nothing you can do about it. However, price is something that is always within the product creator’s control. He should do his research to determine what the best price would be to charge for the product. Ultimately though, how you present the price, in order to make it attractive (showing the actual value, comparisons, etc.) is up to YOU. It is YOUR job to make that price, whatever it is, look like the greatest deal of the century.
Being a copywriter is not an easy job. It’s more than just writing copy. It’s also working with what the product creator gives you.
And sometimes…it’s not much.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
