People make mistakes. It’s natural. After all, we’re only human. Heck, after over 5 years of marketing online, even I make mistakes. I try to keep them to a minimum. However, there are a few things that marketers do that are worse than mistakes. They are some of the deadliest sins you can commit when trying to market your products or services online. I am going to go over three of these sins in this article. If you are committing any of these, you are losing TONS of cash.

At the very top of my list of deadly sins, believe it or not, is NOT checking your links before sending out a promotion. It takes all of three seconds to copy and paste the URL in your email or ad into your browser to see if it’s working or not. Maybe your URL is wrong. Maybe the site is down and you want to delay sending out that email until it comes back up. Point is, not checking it FIRST can cost you a ton of money in lost sales. Yes, I have done this once or twice back in the old day. I don’t do it anymore.

Another deadly sin is letting a prospect come to your site and leave it without at least trying to give them something to make them want to come back or at least be able to stay in touch with them. One way is of course by building a list. It’s not hard to get somebody to opt in to your list. Offer them a free report or a newsletter. Something so that you don’t lose them forever. Not everybody buys the first time they see your offer. And many people will never see it a second time. So make sure you do what you can to get them to subscribe.

Finally, there is not building up your own Virtual Real Estate (VRE). This is one of the biggest mistakes that I used to make. I spent most of my time building up other people’s sites, such as Ezine Articles and the guest blogs that I authored at. Yes, I still do submit to these places, but I no longer neglect my own sites. This very blog has close to 150 articles on it right now. I continue to add to them daily. Eventually, this blog will be one of the top home business blogs on the planet. It will take time, but it WON’T happen if I don’t take the time to update it regularly.

There you have it. Three of the biggest and deadliest Internet marketing sins. If you avoid committing these, you’ll give yourself a much better chance of succeeding.
