3 Things You Must Know About Ezine Solo Ads
Filed under: Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; No CommentsAdvertising on the Internet is a royal pain in the backside. There, I said it. You’d think that there would be at least ONE method of advertising that would bring you tons of traffic without having to mortgage your life in the process. I mean, I love Google Adwords, but it can get pretty expensive if you’re in a niche where the cost per click is over a buck. Well, there’s nothing I can do about that, for now. But if you’re interested in running some solo ads in ezines, there are 3 things you better know about them before you even attempt it. This article will cover those 3 main points.
The first thing you need to know about running a solo ad in an ezine is that not all ezines are the same, and I’m talking about even in the same niche. There can be 10 ezines on the Internet all targeting Photoshop instruction but that doesn’t mean they are all alike. Some will have larger memberships than others. But more importantly, some will have more responsive memberships than others. That’s why it’s important to first sign up with the ezine to see what kind of content they provide. If the content is good, there is a good chance that the subscriber base is responsive. Use your common sense in this area.
The next thing you need to know is that not all ezines will charge you the same rate for an ad. This is where you have to weigh the quality of the ezine against the price you’re going to be charged for the ad. Some smaller ezines will charge much less. If their readership is responsive, and you can get a pretty good idea of this by the quality of the content, then you might be better off spending less on fewer members than spending more on a larger membership. It’s not always a numbers game, especially if those numbers are part of an ezine that does nothing but pitch product after product, week after week.
The last thing you need to know about solo ads is that not all solo ads actually run as solo ads. Some ezines have what they call semi solos. This means that they’ll run your ad along with one or two other solo ads. Personally, I don’t care for this way of promotion. If you want to get the reader’s attention, you have to present one offer at a time. So even though a semi solo ad will be real cheap, the response from one will probably be very poor. So make sure the ad you’re going to get run is a real solo and not a semi solo.
There is a lot more to ezine advertising, but these few tips should get you started. Solo advertising can be very effective…but finding a quality ezine is not an easy task.
