Advertising Tips – Solo Ads
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsOf all the forms of advertising online, probably the biggest crap shoot is solo ads. They can be either very profitable or a total waste of your money. And unless you know what to look for and how to go about getting a solo ad, you’re really just throwing the dice. While there is no fool proof way to guarantee that a solo ad will be successful, this article will contain a few tips that will hopefully make your success with solo ads just a little bit better.
When taking out a solo ad with an ezine, the first thing you want to do is research the ezine itself. This means primarily checking to see that the target market of the ezine matches what you’re selling. In the most obvious cases, you wouldn’t submit a solo ad to an ezine that targets people who play video games if you’re selling health care products. Sure, some of those people may have health issues, but they’re not targeted. If you send a solo ad to an ezine that specifically targets people with health problems, you have a much better chance of selling your product.
However, what if the ezine targets people who are suffering from acne and you’re selling a product that cures moles. You’re still probably not going to get the kind of response that you’re looking for. So, you want to make sure that the ezine is as targeted as possible for your product.
The next thing you want to do is research the ezine to see how many members it has. Unfortunately, this is not a very reliable indicator as ezine directories get their figures, as far as the number of ezine members, from the ezine owners themselves. So you have to take these figures with a grain of salt. However, an ezine that states it has 5,000 members is most likely going to have more members than an ezine that states it has only 500 members.
The reason you want an ezine with a large subscriber base is because the return on solo ads, at best, is not going to be very good. If you get a 2% return, you’ve done well. So you want to reach as many people as you can, especially if you’re paying a hefty fee for this ad.
One thing you can do, in order to get an ezine solo ad at a reduced, or even no cost, is to make the ezine owner an offer to write some articles for his list in exchange for a free solo ad. Many will actually take you up on this as they know the value of content. However, you want to make sure that you are getting a solo ad and not a partial solo. You don’t want to be sharing your space with other advertisers as those ads seldom bring in any results.
The above tips should greatly increase your chances of having success with solo ads.
