Why do affiliate marketers insist on making things hard for themselves? I don’t know about you but I always look for the path of least resistance. Why? Because life is tough enough as it is and I don’t want to make it harder by doing something that is counter productive. When it comes to affiliate marketing, which I do a lot of, that means NOT doing some of the things that I’m going to cover in this article. If you want to save your income, as well as your sanity, you’ll take these words to heart.

Right off the bat, one of the biggest mistakes that affiliate marketers make is promoting the hot product of the day. Yeah, I know…it’s so tempting. Joe Guru comes out with his latest business in the box or whatever it is he’s hawking today and everybody and their grandmother jumps on the train. And let me tell you, we’re talking about a lot of people here. Think I’m kidding?

You have to understand something. When Joe Guru launches a new product, he’s got a massive in house list. I’m talking about 100,000 people or more. What do you think the first thing is that he does? Well, besides trying to get these people to buy the darn thing, he also tries to get them to sell it. Now, while not all of them do, many of them go out promoting this thing. We’re talking thousands of affiliates. Let me ask you a question. What chance do you think you have going up against all these people, some of whom are gurus themselves?

This is absolutely the biggest mistake that affiliate marketers who are just starting out make. But it doesn’t end there. Add to this the laziness of using the same canned ads as everybody else and you’re looking for trouble. Tell me, if you and everybody else is using the same ads that the guru has put together for you, do you think there’s any chance of anybody standing out from the crowd? I can tell you one thing. I have NEVER used a canned ad in my life and my results prove that my way is the best way.

So please do yourself a favor. Find some products to sell that the whole world isn’t selling and write your own ads.

You’ll make a lot more money if you do.
