I don’t mean to pick in marketers, but sometimes I wonder just what the heck they’re doing when they go out and promote somebody else’s product. I mean it’s bad enough that everybody seems to feel the need to jump on the “product du jour” gravy train, but can you at least use a little creativity when you do it? Okay, you probably have no idea what I’m talking about. No problem my friend. By the time you’re done reading this article everything will be crystal clear to you. And then, you’ll be able to answer the question…”Are YOUR ads lame?” Man, I hope not.

As I am sure you know, any good merchant worth his salt will provide ads for his affiliates to use. Why? Well, the answer is simple. He wants to make it as easy for the affiliate as possible. But you see, that’s where he’s doing you the biggest disservice. Why you ask? Well, let’s take a look at the situation because I am sure that once you see what’s going on, you will realize that using these canned ads is probably the worst thing you can do.

For starters, let’s be honest, most affiliate marketers are lazy. They don’t want to do a lot of work. They want to take the path of least resistance. Well, part of that path is having the merchant write your ads for you. Problem is, he’s doing this for every other lazy affiliate marketer in existence. Everybody gets the same ads and everybody sends out the same ads. The only difference is the link inside of the ad. That’s it. Everything else is the same, word for word.

Well, a lot of the people you’re going to reach are all on the same lists. So, when they see YOUR ad for that product, guess what? They’ve already seen it. Most of the people you reach won’t even bother reading yours by the time they get to it. It’ll just be another, “Oh boy, here’s another one of these stupid canned ads” and it ends up in the trash.

So do yourself a favor. Kill the canned ads and write your own.

You’ll be a lot better off for it.
