Product reviews are great ways to sell products as an affiliate. The problem is, most beginning affiliate marketers make them sound more like sales pitches than actual reviews. This article is going to explain the importance of product reviews and the correct way to do them. Failure to follow these tips could end up costing you a lot of money in the long run.

First of all, why are product reviews so important? After all, most affiliate products are pitched with sales pages that have more than enough testimonials on them. Why then would you essentially need to ad yours? Well, for one thing, there is a big difference between a testimonial and a hard honest review. A testimonial is going to tell about how incredibly wonderful the product is. A review is going to tell WHAT the product does and doesn’t do. At least that’s what a good review SHOULD do.

And that is where we run into problems. Affiliate marketers are so gung ho to sell the darn product that they make their review sound like a testimonial. They spend more time talking about how great the product is and not nearly enough time talking about what the product actually does and any weaknesses that it might have. Yes, an honest review, or at least one that’s going to be effective, is not going to turn the product into the best thing since sliced bread. It’s going to be honest. And trust me, throwing in a bit of bad into a review gives it a lot more credibility.

The reason for this is because of human nature. When a prospect reads a review that states that the product is basically good but that there are some problems with it, even if they are minor ones, the prospect is more likely to believe the reviewer. Why? Simple…the review just sounds more realistic. I mean think about it. Who is going to review a product and say something bad about it if it wasn’t an honest review? And, if most of the review is positive, the prospect is more likely to purchase anyway.

So please keep this in mind when reviewing products as an affiliate.

It just may end up landing you a few more sales.
