Anybody can be a follower. In the world of affiliate marketing, the followers are the sheep. And we all know what happens to sheep. They usually get eaten by wolves. Well, if you want to be a successful affiliate marketer, you can’t be a sheep. You don’t necessarily have to be a wolf, but being a leader instead of a follower is certainly going to get you farther along. In other words, blaze the trail…don’t follow it. This article is going to show you how.

For starters, it’s time to stop jumping on the “new shiny product” bandwagon. I think you know what I’m talking about. Guru John Doe comes out with his latest and greatest “you gotta have it or you’ll fail” masterpiece and everybody and their grandmother has to rush out to promote it. Doesn’t even matter that nobody’s even seen the darn thing yet, let alone knows if it’s any good. They just know that it’s a sure way to a few quick bucks…maybe.

Why do I say maybe? Think about it real hard. This guru has got a HUGE following. He must have a list of 100,000 subscribers or more. Some of them are going to buy his great product. However, many more will go out hawking it because they think they’re going to make a killing. Problem is, there are so many people promoting this product that getting a foothold in the marketplace is very difficult. That’s why so many affiliate marketers fail.

So do yourself a favor, stop jumping on the bandwagon. There are plenty of good products out there to promote that aren’t saturated with affiliates. You can easily find them at the Clickbank marketplace. Just head on over there and go to the niche of your choice. Skip page one. That’s where all the saturated products are. Head on over to page three or four. There you will find products that are selling well but don’t have hundreds of affiliates promoting them. You’ll have a much easier time making sales if you choose to blaze a trail through this path.

Affiliate marketing does not have to be hard. You can make it a lot easier on yourself by avoiding the products that every Tom, Dick and Sally is promoting.
