Affiliate Marketing Tips – Did You Get Burned by That Last Launch?

So, you got approached by some hot shot marketer to promote their latest gizmo in a box or whatever it is and the whole affiliate campaign that you launched turned out to be a nightmare. Sales were minimal and you got more complaints from prospects than sales. Well, lesson learned. Or is it? Will you make the same mistakes again? If you’re not sure, you might want to read this article. In it, you will find some tips that will help prevent getting burned again.

At the top of my list is the reputation of the product creator. Is it spotless, or have they had problems before? I can’t tell you how upsetting it is to get emails from people asking things like, “How can you promote anything that this idiot creates?” Yeah, pretty harsh. So the first thing you want to do is hit Google and see what you can find in regard to this person. If you find a lot of bad press, you might want to keep away.

What about the product itself? If you’re doing list marketing, is the product a fit for your list? I can’t tell you how many marketers will promote anything and everything. I’ve had offers sent to my email box for stuff that I can’t possibly be interested in based on the list I was on. I mean, what are these people thinking? Point is, if you’re promoting a product and not reaching the correct target market, you’re not going to have decent results.

Then of course there is the whole sales and affiliate process itself. Some marketers simply don’t have their acts together. They have affiliate programs run by crap software or software that they don’t know how to use, they create a sales process that even one with the patience of a saint wouldn’t want to go through (multiple OTOs and upsells) and basically run a shoddy operation. This upsets prospects and certainly upsets affiliates. So before you even agree to promote this product, make sure you get all the details of how it will be promoted and how the affiliate program will run. Then you can decide if it’s something you want to get involved in.

Believe it or not, your reputation can be hurt just as much as the product creator by getting involved in a shoddy launch.

Don’t let that happen to YOU.

    To YOUR Success,
