Affiliate Marketing Tips – Don’t Throw the Baby Out With the Bath Water

Are you a struggling affiliate marketer? Can’t make a sale to save your life? Have no clue what the problem might be? Ready to give up? Okay, if this is starting to sound like a late night infomercial, hang in there. This article is actually going to help you solve a lot of the problems that you’re having. You just don’t know it yet.

What most affiliate marketers just starting out don’t realize is that there are many variables to affiliate marketing. It’s not just one thing that can trip you up. And that’s where the problems come in. See, something doesn’t work and so the marketer decides to chuck all the variables at once. This is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. You DON’T want to do this.

For example, let’s say, for argument sake, that you’ve set up the following affiliate marketing campaign. I’m going to keep this very simple.

You’ve put up a blog with a review of the product that you’re going to sell. At the end of the review, you have a link to the product’s sales page. You didn’t cloak it. You’ve also written two articles on the related topic and submitted them to an article directory. In addition to that, you’ve made a video on the topic and submitted that to YouTube. Okay, you’ve done all that and after a couple of weeks, you’ve made no sales so you decide to stop selling the product. You take the blog down, you delete the articles from the directory and you pull down your video. This is what I mean by throwing the baby out with the bath water.

The problem is, you don’t know what the problem is. It could have been your product review. Heck, it could have been the fact that you didn’t cloak your affiliate link. In some niches, this is asking for trouble. It could have been that your articles weren’t any good or that you simply needed to write more of them. It could have been that your video wasn’t compelling enough. It could have been that the directory that you submitted the articles to was a poor choice. Maybe you didn’t do your keyword research properly.

Point is, until you’ve exhausted all the possibilities and figured out what the problem is, chucking the whole campaign is just plain stupid…especially after only a couple of weeks. Heck, maybe you just needed more time. Okay, so don’t chuck the baby out with the bath water.

You just might find out that he’s alive and well after all.
