I am going to make this article short and to the point. It is about how to avoid wasting your time as an affiliate marketer. As you can probably guess, this advice is coming from personal experience having done just that. Yes, we all make mistakes. The key is learning from those mistakes. So, what I am about to share with you is information that I hope will help save you countless hours of time promoting products that, quite honestly, you shouldn’t even bother with.

Okay, let’s get started. At the very top of the list is the product itself. Does it solve a real problem or is it just another hyped up piece of garbage. We have reached the point online where a lot of people have become very skeptical about things. And the truth is, even if you feel the product is great, if the general perception surrounding the type of product it is leads people to believe it’s just more hype, you wont sell many. That is a fact that you need to accept. Doesn’t matter what YOU think. It’s what the public thinks.

Next thing has to do with the people launching the product. Do they have their act together? Have they tested the sales process to make sure there are no bugs? Heck, have they tested the affiliate tracking process to make sure there are no bugs? One recent product I promoted, one that is really very well made, had so many problems with the affiliate tracking that they had to switch mid stream to something else. This did NOT make affiliates very happy?

Finally, what kind of reputation do the sellers have? Are they respected by the community? If not, again, it doesn’t matter how great the product is. You’re probably not going to make many sales, if any at all. Like it or not, reputation matters. And it doesn’t have to mean that the product creator has a bad reputation. They may simply have no reputation at all, and thus no trust within that community. This could very well make it very difficult for you to sell their products.
