Affiliate marketing isn’t all that hard. I’ve been at it for over six years and can honestly say that with a little thought and very little money, you can become a killer affiliate marketer. And when I say very little money, I am speaking from personal experience. I am known to be a cheap skate and make no bones about it. Point is, if you’re broke and can’t afford expensive pay per click campaigns or costly solo ads, these few tips should get your affiliate marketing career into high gear without having to break the bank in the process.

There are two great methods of promotion that won’t cost you a dime. One of them is one of the hottest forms of promotion today. I’m talking about video marketing. Now, before you think that you have to create videos that George Lucas would be proud of, you don’t. A simple PowerPoint presentation, or Open Office equivalent (it’s free too) will do the trick. All you need to do is record a video review of the product that you’re promoting. At the end of it, put your affiliate link. Make sure you cloak it. Then just upload the video to YouTube. Then, find a related video in the niche that is getting a lot of views and post your video as a response to this other video. Then watch as the views start pouring in.

Another great and cheap way to promote affiliate products is by taking the same principle and applying it to articles and blogs. This is a combination that, while not really new, will bring you a steady stream of visitors to your site with every article you write. The process, in a nutshell, is simple. The article will direct the reader to your blog. On your blog you’ll have a review of the product, similar to what you did on the video. Then, at the end of the review, you’ll place the link to the sales page. Of course you can even combine tactics and have the article go to your video review instead.

Either of these methods are dirt cheap. Blogger is a great free blog platform, articles cost nothing to submit, and Open Office and CamStudio are free and all you need to create videos that will be more than good enough to get the job done.

So put away your pay per click testing for now and give this a shot. I think you’ll find that these methods work quite well.
