Affiliate marketing is an excellent way to make a living online. You don’t have all the hassles of having to create your own product, sales page, squeeze page and on and on. As an affiliate marketer all you have to do is promote and collect. It really doesn’t get any easier than that. Problem is, so many affiliate marketers are sheep and we all know that sheep end up getting herded off to slaughter. So, if you want to be a successful affiliate marketer. Don’t be a sheep. This article will explain what a sheep is and how to not be one. So pay attention.

Okay, what’s a sheep? A sheep, in affiliate marketing terms, is somebody who follows the crowd. In other words, when XYZ product comes out and everybody is promoting it, the sheep follows suit. When a new form of promotion comes out that everybody starts to use, such as when Bum Marketing hit, the sheep uses it too. Everything that everybody else does, the sheep does as well. There is no independent thought at all. Even the ads that the sheep uses to promote are the canned ads that the product creator made for his flock. The sheep does nothing original.

You’re probably wondering why this is bad. Well, the answer is simple. When everybody does the same exact thing, nobody stands out. You’re all alike. So, any sales that anybody makes is purely by chance. Most sheep make no sales at all. The reason is because the affiliate marketers who go out of their way to do something different are the ones who make most of the sales. The sheep end up getting slaughtered.

So, how do you not be a sheep? Well, it’s simple. For starters, don’t promote the product of the day. There are plenty of good products out there to promote. Why not jump on one of them? As for promotion, how about writing your own ads? Here’s a novel approach. How about writing a review of the product you’re promoting? The sheep don’t do that. A good review will make you more sales, especially if it’s an honest one.

There are other things you can do. The point is, if you want to be a successful affiliate marketer, you have to do things differently than the sheep. Otherwise, you’re just going to get slaughtered.
