Affiliate Marketing Tips – Stop Looking For the Big Guns
No CommentsI remember when I was a kid going to the amusement park, I’d play those wheel games and always try to win the big stuffed animal. I was never satisfied with the little ones. The problem was, getting that big stuffed animal was hard as heck. The little ones were so much easier to get. If I had been content with those, I could have had tons of little ones instead of coming home with nothing. Well, in affiliate marketing, it’s the same thing. Too many affiliate marketers concentrate on the big prize and ignore the little trinkets along the way. In the long run, you’ll actually make more money if you didn’t do this. Let me explain.
It’s no secret that the big product launches with the huge price tags are all the rage. Everybody and their grandmother wants to get in on them. Even I have participated in a couple of them…but only a couple. And trust me, I’d have an easier time selling big ticket items than most people. But for the most part, I shy away from them. Why do you think this is?
Well, as I said, for most of these, everybody and their grandmother is in on it. That means ALL the big names. And no, I’m not going to name them here. Point is, when you’re going up against some of the biggest names in the business with some of the biggest opt in lists, how many of these products do you think you’re going to sell with that kind of competition? Even with all my smarts, when I entered the Nitro Marketing Blueprint arena, I came in only 20th in the contest. And let me tell you, I had to put in a lot of work, including making a video, to come in that high.
Point is, it’s not easy to sell a big ticket item simply because of all the competition. However, there are many smaller ticket items that are much easier to sell that don’t have as much competition. I make most of my affiliate income selling products that are around $37 to $47. They pay about 75% commission, which makes it more than worth my time to promote them. And with products that inexpensive, you don’t have to worry about competing with the big name gurus out there. Most don’t bother with these, especially if it’s a product that’s not even on the radar.
So stop killing yourself trying to sell the big guns.
Cap pistols do very well all on their own.
