The good, the bad and the ugly. Wasn’t that a movie or something? I think it was, though the memory isn’t what it used to be. Anyway, just what is the good, bad and ugly of affiliate marketing? Does it matter? Will it make any difference to YOUR results? Well, I’ll let you be the judge of that after you’ve read this article. I think you will find it amusing, if nothing else.

Let’s start off with the bad and ugly first because that’s what you really want to avoid at all costs. There is so much bad and ugly I don’t even know where to begin. I guess I could start with the obvious…bad products. You know the ones that I’m talking about, some of which have been actually banned from Clickbank’s marketplace. The recent casualties are all those movie downloads and garbage like that. Talk about selling something that is out there for free. Thank goodness Clickbank has done away with that nonsense.

Bad is also those bad sales pages. You know the ones I mean. They promise you to look like Brad Pitt in just 24 hours or your money back, or some other nonsense. It’s hard to describe a bad sales page, but you know it when you see it. Why is this bad? Well, after somebody buys this nonsense product from you and they end up refunding it, what do you think happens to YOUR reputation as an affiliate marketer? Think they’ll ever buy anything from you again?

What about the ugly? Well, the ugly is the ugly side to this business. You know, the cutthroat competition, the stuffing of cookies, all that nonsense. You can play that ugly game if you want, but me…I prefer to stick to the rules and earn my living honestly. Stuffing cookies is not my idea of playing fair. And that’s one practice that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

So what’s the good of affiliate marketing? To me, it’s picking a product that you can be proud to sell. It’s making sure the sales page doesn’t make any wild claims. It’s marketing honestly and intelligently, like offering people exclusive bonuses if they purchase from you. Offer your own personal support and time if you have to. How many affiliate marketers do you think do this?

Affiliate marketing sometimes gets a bad name, but if you follow the few tips I’ve just laid out for you, you’ll find that your efforts will pay off big time.

    To YOUR Success,
    Steven Wagenheim
