Affiliate Marketing Tips – The Most Important Tip of All
No CommentsI really hate it when they ask me the tough questions. It gives me a headache and I don’t like headaches. Well, they did it to me again. Asked me what the most important tip you would give somebody if you wanted them to have the best chance of being successful as an affiliate marketer. I had to think long and hard about this one but after wracking my brains, this is what I came up with. So for better or for worse, what you’re about to read is what I feel is the most important tip of all…sell something that people want.
Now, if you’re sitting there scratching your head wondering what the heck I’m talking about, hang in there. Believe it or not, not every product out there has a demand. Just because some hack marketer created it doesn’t mean that he did the proper research to determine if it’s something that people even want. I myself have been guilty of this. I created a product simply because it was a passion of mine for many years. I didn’t care if people wanted it or not. I was going to create it and nothing was going to stop me. Guess how many units I’ve sold?
Now, if some affiliate marketer had seen it in the marketplace over at Clickbank, they might have just automatically assumed that this was something that somebody was going to buy. After all, it had some fancy sales page that sounded read good. So why not try to sell it? Well, that poor affiliate would have been spinning his wheels trying to sell something that MAYBE one or two people might have bought. Actually, in about a year, I made about seven sales. Not much of a demand, wouldn’t you say?
Okay, so how do you determine if something has a chance of actually selling? Well, the good news is, if you go to the Clickbank marketplace, you’ll find a stat called gravity that tells you how many affiliates have made sales of that particular product. That’s a pretty good indication of your chances of at least picking on something that has a demand. It doesn’t mean you’ll have an easy time selling it (depending on competition and other factors) but at least you know it’s something that people are buying.
If you don’t focus on selling something that people want, all the other things, promotion, ad writing, web design, and what have you, mean nothing.
