Affiliate Marketing Tips – The Sharks Are Circling
No CommentsIf you’re an affiliate marketer, the sharks are circling. That’s what sharks do when they smell blood, and there is plenty of it around these days. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, you might want to read this article. Failure to do so might just turn you into food for the fishes.
Okay, you’re familiar with the latest FTC ruling that affects affiliate marketers, right? No, that’s not what this article is about. You can read the FTC ruling elsewhere. There are plenty of articles to go around. No, what this article is about is something related. I’m talking about the sharks who will smell the bloodbath that’s going to result from this ruling and have you for dinner. Who exactly am I referring to?
I’m referring to the people who live outside the US…the ones who don’t have to worry about the FTC because they don’t fall under their jurisdiction. These people aren’t going to have to worry about what the FTC does and will be able to go on…business as usual. That means that they’ll be able to still use testimonials without showing average results. They’ll be able to use reviews that we can no longer use. Some would say that this gives them a big advantage over the rest of us. But it doesn’t have to.
Why do I say that? See, these people who don’t have to worry about the FTC also don’t have to worry about doing anything new. For them, it will be business as usual. And when people go on with business as usual, they tend to get lazy. They stop looking for unique and different ways to market. They don’t bother with trying to establish a relationship with the prospect. This is where YOU can get a jump on them.
How can you do this? There are many things that you can do. For one thing, create a really comprehensive review of the product. Don’t make any promises or claims, but really go over, in explicit detail, what the product is, what it contains, what it does, what you like about it and what you don’t like about it. By the time a prospect is done reading that review, they should feel fairly confident in the purchase of it.
But don’t stop there. Give the prospect some free info in exchange for their email address. Follow up with a newsletter series with even more information. Make the prospect feel like you really care about helping them with their problem. Most affiliates won’t go through all this so here is YOUR chance to get a jump on THEM.
It’s going to be a very different world out there thanks to the new FTC ruling. Like it or not, the old ways are going to be dead of some stiff fines will be paid. Affiliate marketers are going to have to find new ways to entice prospects with their products.
If nothing else, it’s going to be very interesting to see who survives and who gets eaten by the sharks.
To YOUR Success,
