Affiliate Marketing Tips – What’s the Most Important Part?
No CommentsOkay, let’s really put me on the spot today. No reason why I can’t tackle the hard questions from time to time. In this article, we’re going to tackle the question that every affiliate marketer asks at one time or another. What’s the most important part to being a successful affiliate marketer? Think it’s an easy question to answer? Trust me, it’s not…and it’s one that I’ve been wrestling with for a long time now. This article is going to take a look at this question to see what we can come up with.
Let’s start with the product itself. Is it important that the product be really super terrific? Well, it certainly can’t hurt and you certainly don’t want to sell garbage. But the truth is, I’ve seen many crappy products selling like hot cakes simply because of a great looking sales page and tons of hype. Take Google Free Ads for example. That was probably the most overhyped piece of trash in the past year…yet it sold like crazy. No, product isn’t the most important thing…unfortunately.
What about advertising? Is that the most important thing? I mean ultimately, does it come down to how well you get the word out there? Well, I have to be honest. I used to think that it all came down to advertising. But the truth is, you can advertise the heck out of some products and not make a single sale. Why is that? The answer goes back to the product. But wait a minute, I thought I said the product wasn’t the most important part. Well, it’s not…but you also can’t sell something that people don’t want. Trust me, I’ve tried and it was futile.
So then what is it? Truth is, it’s everything. See, just like anything in life, a system is only as good as its weakest link. You can have a great product, great sales page and a great advertising system in place and still not make any money if you don’t reach the right people with your advertising. Any weak link in your system is going to decrease the number of sales that you will make. That’s why this was a sucker’s question right out of the starting gate.
To be a successful affiliate marketer, you have to have the whole package. Even if the product itself is garbage (as was Google Free Ads) it still have to give the “impression” that it’s not. And if you don’t understand how that’s possible, go talk to a super slick copywriter.
But that’s a subject for another day.
