Do Internet Marketers Have No Class?
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsThis article is in response to a thread at the Warrior Forum about Internet marketers not having any class. While there is good and bad in every profession, one would think, with all the crappy sales pages and products that maybe Internet marketers are kind of like lawyers…at least as far as perception goes. Well, this author is going to give his two cents on the subject. You may or may not agree, but I think you will at least find it interesting reading.
Here’s what I want you to do before you even read another word. I want you to go to the ClickBank marketplace to the category e-business and pick out any sales page at all. Doesn’t matter which one. I’ll wait…
Okay, have fun reading it? Probably not, right? Let’s be honest…some of these sales pages read like something out of a cheap detective novel. You’d think that you could make a fortune in your sleep, overnight, without breaking a sweat. Yeah, some of that copy is enough to make you sick to your stomach.
Well, that’s the stuff that people are seeing. And not all of these people are die hard marketers. Some of them are plain old ma and pa folks who just want to make a few extra bucks online. And this doesn’t even address the issue of Internet marketers promising one thing and delivering something else.
For example, one thing the one member of the forum brings up is how a marketer will say something like, “For more information…go to this site” and all that site does is send the prospect to a sales pitch. Look, if you want to send them to a sales page, do it. But make it clear that it IS a sales page and that it’s a product that might solve their problem.
There is nothing wrong with a sales pitch if you’re up front about it.
Problem I see with most Internet marketers is there is no transparency. Everything is smoke and mirrors and cloak and dagger. Sometimes I feel like I’m reading a Sidney Sheldon murder mystery. Product launches are a joke with all the hype and phony buildup…which is why, to this date, I have yet to do a major product launch.
Ultimately, it seems like it’s all about the money and not enough about providing true value to the prospect. While I agree that you shouldn’t take just one person’s opinion on how to run your business, ethics and a little common courtesy should be in order.
I’m not here to be your conscience. But take a look at your marketing process and ask yourself this question. Would you want YOUR kid to see how you market to other people?
If there answer is no, you might want to reconsider how you do things.
To YOUR Success,
