    Email Marketing Hazards To Avoid

If you’re into Internet marketing (I assume you are if you’re reading this) then you know that there are many ways to get your business in front of the masses. One of those ways is through email marketing. This form of promotion can be very effective IF you know what you’re doing. The problem is, many beginning marketers don’t know how to effectively use email marketing and end up getting buried. Well, in this article, I’m going to alert you to some email marketing hazards to avoid. If you follow these simple tips, you’ll give yourself a decent chance of being a successful email marketer.

At the very top of the list is the actual delivery of your emails. A lot of marketers want to cut corners here so they’ll use their own script to send emails from their server. Let me explain why this is dangerous, let alone not at all profitable. The biggest problem is spam complaints. If you get even just one of them, your ISP can shut you down in a heartbeat and there goes your business. It’s just not worth the risk. In addition to that, no ISP can insure the delivery rates that the top companies can. In short, a lot of your emails simply won’t get delivered.

Another hazard to avoid is the use of misleading subject lines. Look, I know you want to get your emails opened, but using subjects like “payment received” and stuff like that is actually against the can spam laws and can also get you shut down and put in jail besides. If you want to get your emails opened, use a subject line that points to a REAL benefit that is in the body of the email itself. For example, if you’re sending somebody some free tips on how to treat their ulcer, put it in the subject…”3 Free Tips For Treating Ulcers.” Trust me, people with ulcers will be more than happy to read your email.

Finally, we have the content of the email itself. This is where so many marketers drop the ball. They send out one sales pitch after another. Look, you need to gain the trust of the people you’re writing to. Give them a free report or a newsletter. Give them something so that they don’t think you’re just trying to make a sale off of them.

If you follow these three simple tips, you’ll find that your email marketing campaigns will be a lot more profitable.
