    I don’t know why people say that email marketing is dead. I’ve been doing it for over six years now and it’s as healthy for me now as it was back in January of 2003. Maybe the reason that people aren’t having success with their email marketing campaigns is because they’re simply doing too many things wrong. In this article, I’m going to share three simple tips to help you improve the conversions of your emails. I hope you will find these helpful.

    For starters, and this is a BIG thing, you really need to make sure that your emails are going out the way you intend them to. Most autoresponder companies will allow you to send a test email to yourself. Do it! Make sure that everything is just so. Click on the link to make sure it’s working. Check out the email in different mailers to make sure it displays properly. Aweber has a formatter that shortens each line to a certain number of characters for those mailers that don’t read beyond a certain point. These seem like little things but can make a big difference if people either can’t read your emails or can’t get to your site because the link doesn’t work.

    Another thing you should do is combine content with the sales pitch. Most people join your list because they want to be informed of things. They want to learn. They don’t want to be constantly pitched to, email after email after email. After a while, they’re going to tune you out and you will begin to see your conversions slowly go down the tube. Mix in some helpful tips. If you write articles, like I do, point your list to some of these articles in the email itself. If the article is relevant to what you’re selling, there is a good chance that you’ll make quite a few sales in the process.

    Finally, learn to read your list. If you’re emailing everyday and you’re getting many people opting out, then that’s a sign that your particular list doesn’t like to be emailed that often so you might want to cut down. If, on the other hand, many people write to you asking why you don’t send more news letters, then maybe you need to ramp things up a bit. You have to learn how to read your list and understand what it is they want. Once you do this, you’ll see that conversions will increase because you’re keeping them around longer.

    There you have it. By doing these three simple things, you can greatly increase the conversions of your email campaigns.
