Email Marketing Tips – Do Your Emails Stink?
No CommentsDo your emails stink? I’m not talking about the kind of bad odor that you get after eating a cup of five alarm chili. I’m talking about as in “nobody reads them” kind of stink. You can usually tell when nobody reads your emails by the aftermath…as in no sales. Well, if that’s what’s happening to you and YOUR emails, you might want to read this article. It just might save your emails from ending up like that same cup of chili…after it’s been eaten.
Okay, so how do we keep our emails from ending up like yesterday’s trash? Well, the first thing you need is a killer subject so that your recipient actually opens the email. I’ve found that the best subjects are the ones that offer an immediate benefit from opening. For example, something like “Free Report On How To Do Niche Research Inside” will work great if you’re sending emails to a list you built targeting prospects who are interested in doing niche research and finding niches to target. Something like this should get you a pretty decent open rate.
But the subject is only the beginning. See, when the prospect opens the email, there has to be something inside worth reading. And I’m not just talking about a sales pitch. That’s what everybody is doing and probably what you’re doing now that isn’t working. You need to include something informative in the email. Your prospect wants to learn something…so teach them. There is so much garbage being sent out everyday that an email with some actual information is like a breath of fresh air to most folks. And it doesn’t take that much longer to write an email with info as it does to write one that’s nothing but a sales pitch.
If the above seems like common sense, it should be. Problem is, very few marketers use common sense. I can’t tell you how many emails I get everyday that are nothing but “buy my product” and nothing else. Why should I buy from this person? I don’t know them and they’ve given me no good reason to buy from them. And yet, this goes on all the time. That’s why my email campaigns are so successful. I have very little competition.
So give me some competition. Learn from my success and you can actually have some yourself.
