Email Marketing Tips – Email Frequency – How Many is Too Many?
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsLet me start out by saying, anybody who gives you a definitive answer to this question is flat out lying to you. And that is the reason for this article in the first place. If you’re concerned about how often to send emails to your prospects, what you’re about to read should put things into perspective for you or at least give you something to think about.
So, how many are too many? To answer that, let me tell you a little story that I am sure you’re going to love. I have a friend who is in the comic business. He’s a real comic nut to say the least. Anyway, he’s got this list of prospects who are essentially interested in the newest comic releases of a certain genre. Whenever a new issue in that genre comes out…almost daily…he sends an email to his list letting them know that it’s available.
Do you know that whenever two or three days go by that he doesn’t have something to report, he actually gets emails from these people asking him if he’s okay and then ask if there is anything new…as if he wouldn’t tell them if there was. So let me ask you a question. Do you think it’s even possible to email these prospects too often? They are rabid comic fans who can’t get enough of this stuff.
I have another friend who is in a niche that I’m not going to mention here for personal reasons. However, he also sends out daily emails about his “product” and the visitors he gets on a daily basis from these emails are off the charts. He has to dedicated hosting because of all the traffic he has.
On the other side of this coin, I have a list in a particular niche that if I emailed them more than once a week, I’d probably get opt outs in droves. These are not people you can email everyday or even close to it. Some prospects don’t want to EVER hear from you. That’s just the way they are.
So what’s the answer? The answer is simple. You have to test and see what works for you. Rule of thumb for me is simple. Start with infrequent emails and then work your way up to more frequent ones. See at what point the emails telling you to jump off a bridge start to get to be more than you’re comfortable with. That’s when you’ll know when to back off.
There is no hard fast rule to email marketing and frequency of emails.
It’s what works BEST for the niche that YOU’RE in.
