Email Marketing Tips – How to Increase Your Delivery Rate

It doesn’t matter how great your emails are. If they don’t get delivered, they don’t get opened. And if they don’t get opened, YOU don’t make sales. So, how can we increase our delivery rate of our emails? This article is going to share a few simple things that you can do to help ensure that your emails DO in fact get delivered. I think you’ll find these tips most helpful.

At the very top of the delivery problem is your subject line. Spam filters have made it so that a lot of emails don’t get delivered because of certain words in the subject. Words like FREE for example. If you want to know what words to avoid, there are plenty of sites on the Internet that you can go to in order to find out the spam score of your subject line and also get a list of words to avoid. One such site is Mannix Marketing. They have a great list of words to keep out of your subjects.

Another thing you need to do is make sure that the actual content of your email avoids these words as well. However, with the content, you need to go one step farther. See, part of the email content that can screw up your delivery is your links. The problem with a lot of domains, especially if they get promoted heavily, is that they end up on a lot of spam lists. When spam filters see these domains, they keep the emails from being delivered. The way around this is to cloak your links with another domain so that the spam filters don’t catch them. However, you want to be careful with your cloaks because some of them, like TinyURL are actually on the spam lists themselves.

Finally, you want to make sure that your emails are delivered by a reputable autoresponder service or site. If you try to deliver these yourself through your own email service, you are leaving yourself open for a lot of trouble. It only takes a few spam complaints to get your ISP to shut you down. So, use a service like Aweber or GetResponse and this will greatly help increase your delivery rates.

There is no reason why most of your emails can’t be delivered. By keeping spam words out of your subject and content, cloaking links that could be on a spam list and by using a reputable autoresponder service, you should get most of your emails to their intended target.
