Home Based Business Ideas – Weeding Through The Junk
Filed under: Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; No CommentsThere are more ways to make money from your home than Carter has liver pills. Unfortunately, there is also a lot of garbage out there that a person can get lost in if he’s not careful. This article is going to touch on some of the things out there that are called home business opportunities that aren’t worth the time of day to even look at. Hopefully, after reading this article, you’ll have a decent idea of at least what not to bother with.
The first thing that most people seem to want to get involved in for some reason or another is paid surveys. They hear about all the big money you can make taking surveys. Well, I don’t know where this big money is coming from because I started doing the paid survey bit when I first started online. I did them for five months and made all of $5. The problem with paid surveys is that you have to be in the right demographic. If you’re not, you don’t qualify to take the survey. And therein lies the rub to the whole paid survey gig. Who qualifies? Who knows? I know I didn’t…and most of the people I speak to don’t either. Basically, you’re taking your chances with paid surveys.
Another thing to stay away from is the paid typing jobs. Trust me when I say this. Nobody is going to pay you to type. Basically, these things are scams. The companies give you ads to type for them that promote the company and you get paid a very small amount for posting them to other sites. The hours are grueling and the hourly pay comes out to about $2 an hour, if that. It’s certainly not something you can live on. These companies mostly take advantage of people who just can’t do anything else, but there is no real opportunity here.
Another thing you want to keep away from is the mystery shopping job. These jobs look very attractive until you look at the cost and what you’re actually getting. A mystery shopping job basically sends you to some retail establishment, such as a clothes store or a restaurant, and asks you to shop there and report back on your experience. In most cases, you don’t even get paid. They simply reimburse you for the clothes you bought or the meal you ate. So you get some free clothes or a free meal. Well, you certainly can’t live on that. Plus, when you add in the travel expense, as most of your assignments won’t be very close to home, this job actually costs you money.
These are just a few of the many terrible opportunities online. In future articles, I’ll try to cover some others. In the meantime, if you want to find some legit work at home opportunities, in my signature you’ll find a resource that I put together that should help you a lot.
Please don’t get sucked into opportunities that are all promise and no delivery.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
