Home Business Tips – A Work at Home Job Or Business?
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: home base business, home based business tips, home business articles, starting a home businessNo CommentsI hear a lot of people say that they want to work at home so that they can have the “freedom” to work when they want. But have you really thought this through? There is a big difference between working at home at a job or running a business. If you’re not sure what the difference is, this article will help you get some perspective.
If this is your first crack at working from your home, you may have already worked a traditional job…going to the office from 9 to 5 and then coming home for the evening. For most people, that is the definition of a job. Unfortunately, even working from home, that definition is too constraining. See, you can actually work a job even though you’ve never left your home. And I’m not talking about telecommuting either, where you’re working for a boss, just out of your own home. I’m talking about something entirely different.
Particularly, I’m talking about freelancing. This is where you are doing something, such as ghost writing, programming or copywriting, where you are getting hired by people to provide them with ebooks, sales pages, articles or whatever. Like it or not, this is a job. No, you’re not reporting to a boss and you can essentially work when you want to, but it’s still a job for one very important reason. If you don’t do the work, you don’t get paid.
Okay, so what’s the difference between that and having a work at home business? Well, with a business, you’re selling a product or service that doesn’t require you to continually do a particular task in order to get paid. For example, if you have a home business where you are selling ebooks, you essentially write the book and then place ads online to sell it. You don’t have to keep writing each day in order to make sales. In fact, if you can get affiliates to sell your book for you, paying them a commission to do so, you can effectively run your business almost entirely hands off.
Point is, you don’t have to find clients day in and day out in order to make money. With a business, the income can come in even if you’re out on the beech somewhere. That is the difference between a work at home job and business. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with freelancing. Just understand what it is and what the requirements are before you get yourself into it.
