There are a lot of people throwing around a lot of things making them all sound like they were passed down from heaven above on a stone tablet. In the world of the home business entrepreneur, this gospel according to lord guru is turning a lot of home business owners into mindless drones. Well, it’s time to set the record straight on all these absolutes that have been passed down from time immemorial.

First, we need to define what I mean by “absolutes” before we take this article one step further. An absolute is something that holds true in all circumstances for all people. It is true, always has been true and always will be true…100% of the time. Most absolutes are in the affirmative, meaning, if you do them, you’ll succeed. However, there are a few that take the other train out of town. These are the folks who declare, “don’t do this because it doesn’t work.” Well, like I said, it’s time to set the record straight.

Truth of the matter is, in the world of running a home business, there are very few absolutes…if any at all. I have yet to run into one. This is why I tell people, “this is what works for me…please test for yourself” because each person is going to have different results. But why? Why is it that a particular set of instructions will work for John Doe but not work for John Don’t? The reason is what I call the “human variable.”

See, each person brings their own set of skills and weaknesses to each situation. With all my skills, I have weaknesses as well, which is why there are things that don’t work for me, even though they work for other people. In order for me to make those things work, I have to work on my weaknesses. Depending on how important the process is to me, I will either work on that weakness or forgo the method. We can’t do it all…no matter what people tell you.

So when you hear somebody say, “Don’t do this because it doesn’t work” please take those words with a grain of salt because human variables make absolutes a very rare thing indeed.
