Steve Wagenheim’s Home Business Blog Everything You’ll Need To Run A Successful Home Business

Wouldn’t it be nice if nothing ever changed? We’d find something that works for our home business and all we’d have to do is just keep doing it. Heck, if we could put it on auto pilot and hang out on some tropical island somewhere, that would make our day complete. Unfortunately, home businesses and life don’t work that way. The only thing constant in this world IS change. How we adapt to it will go a long way to determining how successful we are WITH our home business. This article explains.

I don’t know how long you’ve been at this, but I’ve been running my own home business for over seven years now and I can honestly tell you that I’ve seen more change than you can shake a stick at. For example. In the early days of pay per click advertising, costs were low and you could direct link to affiliate sites without any problems at all. But then, as Google began to get complaints from users that every ad they want to for a specific keyword was for the same page, they made changes to PPC. It isn’t as easy as it was in the old days.

Another example is in FTC regulations. There have been recent changes as to what you can and can’t say on sales pages and how you now have to qualify testimonials. Documentation has to be provided if you claim specific results. Affiliates who promote affiliate products through reviews now have to state in their reviews that if the prospect purchases from them, they WILL receive a commission for the sale. This is one of the biggest changes in affiliate marketing since I can remember.

And these two examples are just the tip of the iceberg. There have been, and there will continue to be, many changes as the years go by. How we adapt to these changes will determine our success. But okay, how DO we adapt to change? Some people don’t know how. They simply throw their arms up in the air and surrender. Well, here’s the best advice I can give you in regard to adapting to change.

For starters, don’t complain about it. It’s wasted, negative energy. If it’s a law or regulation, there is nothing you can do about it. You simply have to find a way to make the best of if. In the case of affiliate disclosure, what I do is offer an incentive for a person to purchase from me. That way, I can come right out and say that I’m getting compensated for their purchase. The incentive (maybe a bonus ebook or even my time) will make the compensation a non issue.

Those are the things you have to do in order to adapt to change. You accept it and then look for a way to turn that negative into a positive. And remember, not all change is bad. Sometimes good things happen and we’re so stunned we don’t know how to deal with it.

That’s the kind of change I love.
