Just got finished watching that episode of Golden Girls where the girls went to a shrink because they were having trouble living together. The shrink told them that they were totally incompatible with each other and should save their money for the moving expenses. Eventually though, they figured out that they couldn’t live without each other. But what about you? Are you compatible with yourself? More specifically, are you compatible with the business you put together for yourself? If you’re not sure, maybe you should read this article. You might get something out of it.

Probably the best way to get my point across is with an example. Let’s say that you’ve decided that your main goal is to make money. You don’t really care how you do it. Well, at least you think you don’t care. Trust me, when it comes down to it, we all care. Anyway, you decide that you’re going to get into the health niche because you hear there’s lots of money to be made in it. You also hear that a cheap way to get traffic to your site is by writing articles. Finally, you’re told that you should sell a certain product in the niche you picked. So you do all these three things.

Then you discover something. The first thing you discover is that you can’t write. You try and try but nothing comes. You simply don’t have the talent to write articles. So you spend some money on one of those article writing books and read it. You get a little better, but you’re still not writing articles that are really worth reading. On top of that, you’ve come to realize that the product you’re promoting is one you know very little about and have very little interest in. You didn’t think this would be a problem but you’re finding out that in order to really sell it, you need to be able to talk intelligently about it. You can’t because you know nothing about it and have no real desire to learn.

As time goes by, you begin to realize that you hate your business. The fact that you’re not making any money isn’t helping either. Sure, you could hire writers to write your articles and product reviews for you, but now suddenly, your low cost promotion isn’t so low cost anymore. You’re spending more money than you’re making. You hate your business even more.

Okay, this is an extreme example, I know. The point is, you may not be compatible with the business that you chose for yourself. I’m not saying that you have to get into something that you love right off the bat. However, it will help to have at least a little interest in it BEFORE you dive in feet first.
